(11,045 posts)The main issues are bandwidth and slowing everything else down. If you are unlucky enough to be co-opted in an attack on, say, the DoD, there is an vanishing small possibility that the NSA will use the same protocols to have a look at you.

(26,549 posts)They check your current IP address. For about 99% of Internet users, their IP address will change regularly. So their new address may not show up in their database and thus it will say they don't have a bot when they do.
Also, those IP addresses are recycled. So if someone had a bot, and then I later got their IP address, then this tool would say I have a bot even though I don't.
