8. I Don't Know What It Is About Tyler

I don't know what it is about the area around Tyler, Texas, but they've been sending the most obnoxiously reactionary and often the most blatantly racist politicians to the Texas state legislature and the US House of Representatives for over a century. I used to think it might just be the racism common to many East Texas whites, but I'm beginning to think it might be a hidden desire to outshine the less-obnoxious racists and reactionaries elsewhere in Texas and in the former Confederacy.
