Fox's Powers Lets O'Reilly Have It For His Phony Christianity On Immigrants
By Heather July 9, 2014 6:00 am -
I'm no fan of Fox "Democrat" Kirsten Powers, but I did enjoy watching her take Bill O'Reilly to the woodshed for his hypocrisy over immigrants flooding here from Central America.
To my surprise, Powers actually did a pretty good job of hitting back at O'Reilly and his demonization of those on welfare, reminding him that some of his own impoverished ancestors from Ireland probably would have been on welfare as well back in the day, had it existed.
She also called him out for his supposed "Christian values" while wanting to demonize the children being held in these detention facilities.
Bill-O's buddy Monica Crowley did her best to attempt to come to his defense after Powers called him out, but it was too late. The damage was already done.
Powers keeps this up and she might not be invited on Bill-O or Baier's show on Fox any time soon.

(23,671 posts)Haven't seen him in years and while I never thought he was particularly good looking, he's certainly not aged well.
Secondly, Kudos to Kristen Powers. I've never heard of her, and was very pleased at how she stood up to BO. Good for her. I don't understand the negatives about her in the above comments. From reading about her, she seems to be a liberal progressive.
If the negatives are because she works for Fox News, well, if she stands up to BO and puts him in his place on a regular basis, then I say, you go girl.

Powers supported the Obama health care reform, and believes it is a moral imperative to supply health care to all Americans.[7]
Powers supports comprehensive immigration reform and providing a path to citizenship for illegal immigrants, favors gun control,[8] and supports equal rights for gay people in the form of universal civil unions, leaving marriage strictly as a religious institution.[9]
She opposed the "don't ask, don't tell" military policy.[10] and supports closing Guantanamo Bay and putting prisoners in federal prisons.[11]
She opposed the Iraq war,[12] as well as the Fairness Doctrine,[13] and a constitutional amendment to ban flag burning.[14]
She also opposes the death penalty.[15]
She supports the right of countries to choose their own governments free of outside influence but is against the establishment of theocracies. Powers had a particular concern over the influence of Islamists in Egypt due to her former husband being of Coptic Egyptian origin.[16]
She opposes elective late-term abortions.[17]

(15,220 posts)I can't stand him, but regardless of my disdain, as a journalist, he's still the worst. No one is allowed to hear his guests speak because he is constantly interrupting. I can't see why ANYONE would go on his show just to argue with him, and I can't imagine even his fans not getting irritated at this.
