Life is hard and then you die

Yes thats a downer title to a thread. I just wanted to say that the last 3 and 1/2 years were the hardest of my life. Its fucking hard to take when you are supposed to be the bread winner and you lose your job and can't get one that meets your needs. It seems I have another chance to make things right, not sure yet its going to get better, but I am going to try my best.

What else is there? If you give up, you lose. You may lose anyway, but the only way to succeed is to try. I was laid-off twice back in the eighties. My oldest daughter was born the same week I was laid off the first time. My youngest was born the week I was laid off the second time. Bad timing I guess. But, I found new jobs both times in less than a year, so isn't even close to what you are enduring.

I was a gearing machinist. Not many of us around, so they came looking for me, it just took a little time.

I managed to persevere. It got better....slowly. I hope you do too!

"Again I looked throughout the earth and saw that the swiftest person does not always win the race, nor the strongest man the battle, and that wise men are often poor, and skillful men are not necessarily famous; but it is all by chance, by happening to be at the right place at the right time. A man never knows when he is going to run into bad luck. He is like a fish caught in a net, or a bird caught in a snare."

hand to mouth but rather boom or bust, so where the next dollar was coming from ruled my life back then. Yes, I'm retired now, older and much closer to my expiration date. But even the fact that I have fewer years left to live doesn't change the fact that NOW is the happiest time of my life selfishly speaking because at least I have a measure of safety now. Career Years can be such a head kicker that I don't envy those still involved. Best of luck to you.
