Janet Yellen Lives In A Gated Community, And Her Neighbors Are Not Happy About All Her Security

BIZARRE........ Many News Articles about this...Did she hire Eric Prince's Group "Blackwater" or (Whatever they are called now?)

----

Top Complaints About Janet Yellen According to her Neighbors

It's not easy being the Chairwoman of the Federal Reserve. But as if having one of the most powerful and difficult jobs in the country isn't enough, Janet Yellen has also made a different set of powerful enemies: her neighbors. Wall Street Journal chronicled some of the problems that the other residents of her gated Georgetown community of Hillandale have with Yellen and more specifically with her security team. They take issue with everything from the way that they dress, to the security measures that they take, to the abundance of fast food that they eat. Take a look at some of the most memorable lines from the piece below.

· As neighbors tell it, earlier this year, the security detail protecting new Federal Reserve Chairwoman Janet Yellen barreled through the cul-de-sac where she lives in oversize vans loaded with guns, cameras and takeout pizza.

· When Ms. Yellen leaves her home, a second truck then "speedily pulls out of the security driveway…all the while spilling fluid onto the street, which has now left a permanent stain."

· Neighbors seem especially put off by the aesthetics of the security detail, in particular their blue uniforms and—in the words of one resident—"doughnut bellies."

· Security trucks, it continued, "weighing approximately 7,000 pounds each" sit idling on the street for "approximately 22 minutes daily" at each Yellen morning pickup.

· "The government is paying $5,000 or $6,000 a month or more to rent a whole townhouse in Georgetown to put cops in," says international attorney William Shawn, who lives down the street from the newcomers. Is this really necessary, he wonders, to protect an unarmed economist from Brooklyn?

· They mounted on the roof a camera that looked like a streetlight on an interstate and proceeded to monitor—and disgust—the neighbors.

"Bob Mueller, who you would think would have a much more dangerous job dealing with terrorists all over the world, had people who were businesslike, didn't socialize and waited for him outside the gate," says one unhappy resident, sitting in a living room decorated in chintz, silk topiary and family silver. "Now we have this group, overweight, wearing the most ridiculous blue uniforms with the most ridiculous blue caps, and they have guns that are visible."

· "We need to put in proper safeguards. How are we going to feel if somebody leases to the Taliban?" -William Shawn

Janet Yellen: problem neighbor.

According to a report in The Wall Street Journal, Federal Reserve Chair Janet Yellen's security detail is causing quite a disruption in her exclusive gated community in Georgetown.

Yellen lives in Hillandale, which The Journal says is governed by, "50 pages of rules banning fences, motorcycles, certain paint colors, tree species and excess dogs and cats (no more than two total per household)."

But when Yellen moved in, her detail and its "doughnut bellies" upset the community's order.

From WSJ:

"As neighbors tell it, earlier this year, the security detail protecting new Federal Reserve Chairwoman Janet Yellen barreled through the cul-de-sac where she lives in oversize vans loaded with guns, cameras and takeout pizza. It established an 'armed camp' next door to [Hillandale resident Sallie Forman's] townhome, according to a written bill of grievances presented by concerned neighbors deeming the uniformed police presence 'uncomfortable for residents of various religious persuasions,' such as Quakers."

The community's grievances against Yellen's detail also said 7,000 pound trucks idle in the street for 22 minutes a day, and that another truck "speedily pulls out of the security driveway...all the while spilling fluid onto the street, which has now left a permanent stain."

Hillandale bylaws, the Journal notes, "expressly prohibit car fluid spills in the common areas."

As chair of the Federal Reserve, Yellen is the most important banker in the world, and it doesn't seem outlandish to have a large security detail ensuring her safety.

But according to the Journal, some residents like William Shawn, an attorney who lives down the street from Yellen, are wondering if all this muscle is needed, "to protect an unarmed economist from Brooklyn?"

But, it's interesting that she has more security than others.... Is it the threat from without or her own concerns about what she is doing that will cause backlash that even Mueller wouldn't have expected.

when you consider the trillions of dollars that she is responsible for,
there has to be an enemy around every corner. IMO

I can't understand DU'ers who get worked up about him. If they don't watch the stuff then why post about it here? I've never listened to Rush Limbaugh but DU'ers can sometimes seemed obsessed with what he talks about and want the rest on the Dem Site to somehow be concerned at whatever his ravings of the moment are?

I guess it's just to get us all riled up for the Democratic Cause, or something. Seems kind of old and stale these days though when we are more savvy about our media than in times past.

Federal Reserve System "is considered an independent central bank because its monetary policy decisions do not have to be approved by the President or anyone else in the executive or legislative branches of government, it does not receive funding appropriated by the Congress, and the terms of the members of the Board of Governors span multiple presidential and congressional terms."[17]

Neighbors complaining about the guards uniforms, the size of their bellies and apparently they know how much the trucks weigh and what everything costs, including the take out pizza's...boo hoo. Sorry but it's hard for me to feel sorry for people rich enough to live in gated communities, sounds like folks have way too much time on their hands.

There are people who suffer greatly in this world and right here in our own country, kids who get hit by stray bullets and can't walk down the street in their own neighborhood and these people complain about security detail keeping everyone safe!

Do these nitwits not understand that the security detail will keep their safe gated community even safer?

As an aside, I have a cousin who is a security guard with the Fed, so this is kinda funny to me. Although I'm pretty sure he's not on her detail.

In my experience, and I have some I this regard, individuals in need of security are generally informed of that fact by professionals assigned to their protection. It is rarely the other way around. So to paint her, without any evidence, as feeling this you ascribe to her and acting upon those feelings is not real discussion, it's just characterization and frankly, a bit sexist.
You side with a bunch of rich assholes that don't like seeing her working class security detail, and that's your prerogative. Would not be my choice. They are the same sort of people who want you to hire landscaping crews that 'speak English well' and such.

people serving in her position. It's interesting to ask why you make up all this story that is not there? You claim she feels under attack, asked for this security detail that is larger than her predecessors, but none of that is stated in the articles. None of it.
She could be the devil and that's still shitty rhetorical nonsense. Good God.
