He is filling in for him. Earlier this evening, for example, he cited a recent poll that the majority - about 33% of surveyed individuals - think that Obama is the worst president since WWII.
I would ask about the methodology of the poll, but that aside, he had someone from the White House who told him that the administration does not conduct its activities by polls. So he asked again - doesn't it bother you? And she said, as I've told you, we do not change our policies according to polls. When he tried to insist, I turned the TV off.

(9,956 posts)... I like him better. I like Joy Reid for politeness and Rachel for investigations. Steve is great when not assuming Matthews' style.

(47,485 posts)Similarly, 35% think that Reagan was the best, meaning 65% do not.
When will people realize that Reagan with his "voodoo economics" started the stagnation of the middle class that has finally collapsed?

(1,581 posts)for this show but that was the dumbest segment I have ever watched. I have noticed this when he fills in for other people. He does a really good job as a mimic. We all know he is rather smart on his own, doing his own reporting but as a 'clone' host, not so much.
Why did he say "the majority - about 33% of surveyed individuals"? When I went to school, 33% was not anywhere near a majority. He needs to work on becoming his own man.

(47,485 posts)When Michael Smerconish used to fill for Matthews he was really good. Never tried to imitate him. Too bad he is now with CNN, Saturday morning when he is not being bumped by... the plane! or other news stories that CNN likes to chew and regurgitate.

(1,698 posts)This segment was as irritating as one could get. He was badgering the entire subject. Not once questioning the survey itself. He made it sound like the president had committed a crime. It was pathetic. Right now, I don't know if I prefer Matthews shouting, stuttering and spitting, or Steve's stuttering on one question for five minutes.

(17,056 posts)I'm glad I wasn't watching. One of things I dislike the most about the yellow haired one is the way he disses David Corn.

(14,732 posts)DU'ers comments on it but I was also struck by the tongue-tied performance of the lady who is White House Communications Director (being interview by Kornacki on this question). She seemed to be ill at ease, horribly unprepared and generally unpersuasive. Is she the best that Obama has got?
