A Guttmacher Institute study found in 2011 that only 42 percent of women used the pill only for birth control, and 1.5 million women relied on it exclusively for noncontraceptive purposes.Radio host Rush Limbaugh on Wednesday suggested that women who needed birth control but couldnt not get it because it was banned by their religious employers could solve their problems if they stopped having sex.
On his radio show, the conservative talker continued his response to the Supreme Courts ruling that the federal government could not force Hobby Lobby to cover contraception for its female employees by asking why birth control was so important to the human condition in the first place.
Eye exams, dental exams, dental work are not mandated by Obamacare, he opined. But contraception is! Birth control pills are!

Hey, Rush, have you and your wives ever used birth control? If so, does that mean they're sluts? Or are they just beards, meaning no BC has ever been necessary?

(20,317 posts)The, judgemental, holier-than-thou types... they always have the weirdest shit going on privately. I cannot even imagine what it must be for someone who has built a career on that personality trait, and is a massive attention-seeker to boot.
I mean, it has to be almost televangelist weird.

The Velveteen Ocelot
(115,719 posts)since there were never any kids from any of them (and thank god for that; can you imagine how disturbed a child of Rush would have been?).
Although there may have been another reason for that...

(16,245 posts)What is so hard to understand that being able to have sex without fear of an unwanted child or a disease is a very, very good thing? Why aren't more men standing up for that? It makes life so much better for everyone. Why isn't everyone shouting this from the rooftops? It's my goddamn body and I'll do what I want with it, thank you very much.
Why do they insist that women (especially, they never put the same constraints on men) live miserable existences with THEIR needs (sexual, health, financial, psychological etc) NEVER being met? WTF is wrong with them?
Okay, this is mostly rhetorical, since I think it is clear that these people are pathological in their hatred of women.
But I do wonder why more men aren't going on talk shows and saying, "Yes, I love having sex with my partners without fear. It's spontaneous, it's fun and life is so much better for everyone."
Why must we fall back on the excuse that the pill is used for other things (which it is and thank gods for that), as if somehow that will appease these anti-sex moralists?
Sex is good. More sex is even better.
(Incidentally, they also seem not to get that you don't take a pill just when you want to have sex, but it's a maintenance medication that you take every single day. Unlike, say, Viagra.)
