BREAKING: If you conduct a poll made up of....

BREAKING: If you conduct a poll made up of 73 percent whites, 61 percent Midwesterners and Southerners, 66 percent non-college grads, 69 percent non-Democrats and 56 percent land-line users, you can get a Politico headline proclaiming Obama the worst president since World War II.

Well not really more article, but plenty of fun comments. Like this one:

"Condensed:

If you conduct a poll using old white people as your demographic you get a headline proclaiming Obama the worst president since WWII, as told by people who were alive during WWII."

and

"hahaha land-lines"

If you are conducting a poll by phone you are only talking to people over 55. Really need to keep this in mind going into election season.

I knew it fell on party lines and it was obvious the polling was disproportionately Republicans.

and the fact that no matter which party is elected, the same predatory direction continues. The poll reflects distress that Americans seem to have lost all power to influence anything this government does anymore.

Virtually all of Bush's policies have been continued and expanded, and we are now looking at the most predatory trade agreements in history, that will essentially constitute a corporate coup of the democratic foundations of this country.

Note that the poll, typical of corporate mainstream media polls, is about Obama the man rather than the policy agenda and the root cause of the problem, the corporate money deluging the system and driving policy in both parties. That framing, making it about Obama, invites hyperpartisan outrage and wagon circling, instead of a discussion of the actual problems and what is good for the country.

And that's exactly what the One Percent who own both parties want, in order to keep us mindlessly defending policies that are destroying us.

Making it about Obama was destined to skew the poll. And we aren't talking about issues in the media. Just being spoon fed a daily outrage designed to keep viewers divided.

Just pointing out that telephone polls are not ever going to capture the opinions of younger voters because they don't have land lines and tend to let unrecognized numbers go to voicemail.

I do hope that democrats aren't relying on fear of republican judges and obstruction to encourage voters, especially younger voters who tend to skip elections that don't involve voting for president. Democrats need a plan, to outline what they offer to do should they win the house and keep the senate. Will they restore cuts to social programs hurt by the sequester? Will they immediately begin working on infrastructure with a jobs program that employs US workers? Will they do something to address climate change and pollution? Strengthen social security? Do more to reduce the high cost of college? Give people a vision, hope, a plan, a reason to show up and vote. I'm worried that fear is not enough. So yeah, you're right, we need to talk about the actual problems our country faces and what candidates intend to do to solve them. Think that will happen?

The only conclusion to be drawn from this poll is a majority of people who have landlines and still answer numbers they don't know are either complete idiots or bigots who long for the days having of a white President.
