than the total combined population of Wyoming, Idaho, Montana and North and South Dakota. The deck has been rigged for a long long time.

(21,616 posts)I figured a google search would give me this data instantly.......... I can't find ANY kind of data on how many registered democrats there are in texas. I found one list that showed D/R by state but only about half the states had data.
seems odd that a basic stat like that isn't readily available somewhere

(12,869 posts)Party affiliation is determined by which primary you vote in.
so if you vote in the dem primary, than the state considers you a dem?
is that "on file" somewhere?

(21,024 posts)in a recent post. That may be high but think of it as a rounding error. And the population of those 5 states is way less then that.

(32,068 posts)So at 10 million that would mean about 5% of the voters voted. I really doubt the 10 million figure rounding error or not. The population of Texas is 19 million 18 and older.

(19,877 posts)Turnout rates for voting in the country, I believe its the 2nd lowest. If Dems turned out full force it would go blue.

(19,566 posts)I am sure if the Texas Democrats could somehow motivate their eligible voters to turn out, they could take back the state.
Texas Republicans can't even get their voters to turn out in any sizable numbers. Imagine if the Democrats could actually get voters to the polls. It would be a different state, and possibly a different America considering how many congressional seats they hold. Or not, considering how gerrymandered they are there.

(145,489 posts)They just do not vote. Texas is not a red state but a non-voting state.

(21,024 posts)The people in those 5 states send 7 Republican senators to D.C. Texas Democrats don't send any. It is a damn shame.
