DANIEL STRAUSS JUNE 26, 2014, 12:58 PM EDT
A Wisconsin Republican running in the race for the state's third Congressional district warned that the recent ruling striking down the state's same-sex marriage ban might lead to marriages between siblings.
"We've got, for instance, two sisters, and these two sisters want to get married. They love each other. They are committed to each other. They want to spend the rest of their life together," attorney Karen Mueller, the candidate, said according to The Tomah Journal.
Mueller made the comments at a "Meet the Candidates" event. The event in Tomah was sponsored by the Monroe County Republican Party.
Their lawyers, Mueller continued, could argue that "'We can just do away with that state law the same way we did away with sodomy laws.' Once you do away with that, you reveal what is going on here."

(14,733 posts)I could care less if a couple of sisters want to spend the rest of their lives together. Heck, if we're going to go all 'for instance', let's hypothetically say that they're identical twins while we're at it! They're not going to be able to do anything kinky while 'married' that they can't do while 'not married', so the reason to prevent them from getting married has nothing to do with sex or incest. So what is the point of denying that hypothetical sister-couple the ability to marry? Simply to prevent them from claiming the same legal perks that go to other married people?
As a single person, cry me a river. Married people want to prevent as many people as possible from cashing in on the financial benefits being given by the government to 'married' people?

(11,366 posts)because it can reek havoc with the gene pool (regressive genes suddenly have a chance, etc.), but since two women and/or two men cannot procreate, it probably doesn't matter if they get married (not that you need a marriage certificate to have sex and procreate anyway).
Really, this whole thing is silly. How often is that going to happen?

(14,733 posts)I think the main reason any related pair is going to want to be 'married' is for legal and financial benefits. Not because they're from Thad Cochran's childhood stomping grounds and enjoy 'indecent acts with farm animals' or each other...

So, here are some ideas...
"GAYS CAUSE NATURAL DISASTERS!"
"IT WILL LEAD TO CHILD MARRIAGE!"
"IT WILL LEAD TO SIBLING MARRIAGE!"
"COULD IT BE... SATAN?!"
(Calling gays worse than Nazis, Muslims, terrorists, demons, etc.)
(And yes, I included a picture of a cyborg because it will only be a matter of time...)
(Somehow involving Shariah law or this decade's enemy for the war on X)
And of course, the often-used, never-tired "GAY MARRIAGE WILL CAUSE BESTIALITY!"
