This is not my blog, just one I found with great photos.

(31,997 posts)I hate them in person, but they fascinate me to see on TV

(135,425 posts)I've been in earthquakes, too, that were not fun--but never one of those damn twisters.
I could probably go a lifetime with just seeing 'em on the tee vee!!!

(34,112 posts)I found pieces of the Wichita Eagle in my back yard way up near Topeka. The pieces were not connectable but there were a lot of them scattered all over the yard. That is a very long way for pieces of paper to travel.

(31,997 posts)for some strange reason, the furnace was labeled...maybe for shipping.... she got a notice in the mail. Quite incredible.

(40,416 posts)I knew two people whose families lost their houses, fortunately no one injured. However, people died in that storm.
There's another video from KAKE that shows a family huddling under an overpass on the KS turnpike while a funnel goes directly over them. A KAKE news camera team happened to take shelter under the same overpass and documented it all. Totally amazing footage. I'm not sure it was the same day.
Wichita's always exciting during tornado season.

(34,112 posts)but like you not totally certain but who could ever forget seeing that? Since that was made they have now told people not to do that. That was incredible wasn't it? Watching that tornado as it came closer and closer then passing over them and hearing it was quite amazing.

(40,416 posts)as the tornado went over the overpass. It's etched in my memory. Certainly somebody could post a link to a YouTube of that. (I have low BW here.)
It's an incredible document of the power of nature.

(4,723 posts)Tornadoes are terrifying. And monsters like this one just boggle the mind in their power. With Joplin a mere 80 miles to my west, that devastating event of less than one year ago still haunts me. It seems every year, small towns are wiped off the map, or nearly wiped off the map. Tornado season in my area has started; April and May can be nerve-racking months in bad tornado years. I can only hope that this year, we have a mild season.

(31,997 posts)but they are coming back and doing it Green. What they have done looks amazing

(60,212 posts)(Yeah, technically we get them, but it's always like 5 almond trees and the roof of a farm shed get hit and there's no "real" damage.)
But I can't imagine living with the threat of that.
God, that girl who was JUST HYSTERICAL saying "Where are we going to GO?" That would so be me.

(20,776 posts)I would rather put up with a few shakers, now and then than a season of tornadoes or hurricanes. What scares me most are Tsunami. You can avoid a Tornado, but where do you go when a wall of water comes?
Imagine this being San Francisco..it could happen one day...
