"Women Don’t Care About Contraception"

Gov. Nikki Haley, South Carolina.

Women don’t care about contraception,” Haley said, “they care about jobs and their families…” She was cut off by Joy Behar, who bristled along with the rest of the panel and noted that women should care about contraception. “The media cares about contraception,” Haley tried again, and then concluded that while women might care about contraception, they just want to be able to make those decisions themselves, without government involvement. Interesting position for a female Republican governor! You can see the clip here via ABC:

let them think that. Let them continue to act as though bc is no big deal to women. Let them lose all their seats...I'll be happy with that. I'll bet Haley likes her bc. Wasn't she the one accused of a bunch of affairs? I'll bet she thought the pill was important then.

but if Haley is going to poke her nose outside that open air insane asylum, she's going to find out that it does matter, very much, and is basic to the health of women.

I wonder if she's ever considered that she would be dead if she had been expected to crank out an infant every single year, year after year.

4. I watched the show, and noticed the applause Behar got, but...

it was pretty mild compared to the applause when they heard they get a copy of Haley's book.

And this from an audience of mostly women.

Watching ALL of Haley's performance, it was smooth-- too smooth. She's scary with her perfectly rehearsed "informal" talks.

...and a single parent, thinking about contraception was a major part of thinking about my job and family.

Why don't they get this? Why do they think that all women should be thrilled to fucking pieces to get pregnant whenever their "God" decides? Why don't they get that many women and couples can not AFFORD another child, but would still like to continue having sex? Why don't they get that by telling women that they shouldn't use contraception and then refuse to allow them freedom of choice, that they are ensuring long lines at homeless shelters, food pantries, prisons, welfare offices, unemployment offices, etc.?

Why don't they get this? Because they don't fucking THINK! Their minds never reach beyond their own front doors.

God, they're dumb.

The GOP women will be stunned when they realize they've been puppets. But, they'll quietly retreat to their kitchens and bedrooms until the head of the household tells them what they want.

I'm thankful each and every day that my parents raised me as a Democrat. I'm grateful that the vast majority of men that I've known have treated me with respect and as an equal. That they've never doubted my independence. I can't imagine what it must be like to be a Republican woman. Waiting for answers from a male deity and then having to filter it through your husband/father/brother to make sure it wasn't just one of those "women things".

We have a president that has been surrounded by strong women throughout his life. He's raising two strong and independent daughters. He's taking down the sign at the door that reads, "Boys Only!". I see a flood of women in the future that will be even more confident and driven. In a way, the GOP is promoting that future by poking at us (pun not intended, but what the hell?) and insinuating that we aren't capable of knowing our own minds and bodies. I hear a collective "WTF?" and that voice is the echo of the majority of women in this country.

So, thanks, GOP. We could have done it without ya, but the early wake up call didn't hurt.

It makes you sound like a complete idiot.

How the hell does she think that women get to the point of caring for their families without the use of contraception… Magic crystals?

I don't know a lot about this person, but the very little that I do know about her doesn't assure me that she's not a few fries short of a Happy Meal.

9. It's so funny that these republican women politicans actually think women don't care about birth

control in any way. Yet Obama is leading in swing states with women by about 18 points. When you hear these same politicans say women are concerned about jobs. Yet they haven't done anything with jobs.
