Pollster Scott Rasmussen receiving thousands of dollars from Republican Party

Today, Scott Rasmussen and his polling company are the only ones to show Mitt Romney ahead of President Obama. On an unrelated note, Mediamatters.org last week revealed the following about the "independent" pollster:

Event chairwoman Mya Goodman told Media Matters in an email that the party paid Rasmussen a fee of $15,000 plus travel to speak and the party chose Rasmussen "because we felt that his topic would be interesting and relevant to the current election cycle."

The following week, Rasmussen headlined a February 18 Lincoln Day fundraiser for the Manatee County Republican Party of Florida. Tickets for the event were reportedly $100. An email to the party was not returned. Local party chairwoman Kathleen King said in a December press release: "Rasmussen is a reliable and driving force in American Politics. Party activists are excited to hear what Rasmussen has to say when all eyes are watching the evolving contest for the Republican presidential nominee and the future make-up of the U.S. House and Senate."

A Rasmussen spokesman told Mediamatters that he receives offers to participate in events from all parties; but when prompted, the spokesman could not cite one example of a Democratic event where Rasmussen participated.

"Mediamatters is not journalism or media - it is an opinion blog. As such, it doesn't have to factcheck or present the truth."

and I trust Media Matters more than someone who appears to have just joined DU in order to make a post denouncing Media Matters. They have a record of calling out the shilling Corporate Media, and I don't know you from Adam (or Eve)!

9. Why is that one post wonder still "active?" Is MIRT overworked?

Most people who are members of the Democratic Party, and who call themselves a Democrat, can manage to put the cap D in front of the word, particularly when they have no trouble with punctuation and grammar throughout the rest of their diatribe. That one deliberate "diss" says more than a thousand words could. Talk about a red flag!

It's quite obvious what the POV is from that guy--and it ain't the POV that elects Democrats with a BIG D or other progressives to office.

I'd also wager that the only "Seal Team" the naysayer was associated with was the one that fed the fish to the clapping, cheerful creatures at the aquarium--and that's if he was lucky. Real Seals don't boast with over-obvious usernames on anonymous message boards. It's just ...déclassé.

My comments are forthright and sincere. I know what a small "d" means when someone with otherwise stellar punctuation uses it.

Too clever by half.

And on edit, if that's not enough, the phrase Sorosians at MM ought to be one of those HUGH!!!1!!!!!!!! clues....seriesly!11!!

sorry for being unclear.

After a lot of discussion, he's been banned. Sometimes it is fast and easy, other times it takes more time.

14. Let me make one thing perfectly clear (to quote Tricky Dick)!!!

I was not disparaging the efforts of the unpaid, hard working, and paying-into-the-site, MIRT.

I honor them, I admire them, I give them props. If you are on the team, I throw flowers in your general direction.

I was just wondering why it took so damn long to take out the trash. My speculations ranged to "Is everyone having a nice day out in the real world, a picnic in the sun" type thing, and no one cares about this evil shit? Or "Are there so many assholes flooding this site that this particular insult is 'less important' in the big scheme than other, more egregious, insults we have not seen? Or..."Am I the only one who sees this tool for what he is? He's a Low-Current Troll...enough "RahRah Dems" on the one hand, with a shade of "I can't help but say they're really 'rats' doncha know" on the other. Some people can't help but out themselves, but sometimes they are so "low current" that some folks don't immediately see 'em for what they are.

That's all I meant. I really wasn't meaning to rake your (UNPAID) collective boo-tehs over the coals. I really am sorry if you took it that way.

We were discussing it and it took a while to come to consensus. Sometimes it has been very obvious, other times we try to figure out if more line is needed before fishing them in.

Thank you for clarifying and I apologize for taking you wrongly before.
