Sheriff calls off manhunt in identity theft case

St Johns County Sheriff, David B Shoar, informed local Historic City News reporters that he realized it was time to “call off the dogs” in an identity theft investigation that tied up his entire cybercrime investigation unit for the past 48 hours – non-stop. (snip)

“It was easy to get confused on this one,” Shoar told reporters. “They didn’t prepare us for this type of eventuality at the FBI National Academy.”

Shoar said he would do it again. The $92,000 paid “had to be spent on something”, Shoar was heard to say; as he considered whether or not to take the kitten to the veterinarian for a medical evaluation.
