Juan Cole: GOP Backs Bundy, Open Carry; Sovereign Citizen Shoots Up Courthouse

http://readersupportednews.org/opinion2/277-75/24115-gop-backs-bundy-open-carry-sovereign-citizen-shoots-up-courthouse

That didn’t take long. The Georgia GOP rushed into law an ‘open carry’ provision in April allowing people to tote around guns in bars and churches (apparently these are felt to be complementary institutions in Georgia) and schools (these are apparently felt to be full of expendable if short people in Georgia).

So on Saturday a sovereign citizen and former Transportation Department employee (who made his money from the Federal government he hates) showed up outside a Georgia courthouse armed to the teeth with automatic weapons and other munitions and with the clear intent of taking hostages inside the courthouse. He was open carrying, you see, and standing up against big government. Or rather standing overtop it with a gun to its head.

This was a clear act of terrorism, but since it was committed by a white person, no one brought the word up.

A brave policeman confronted the sovereign shooter, trading volleys of gunfire with him. The brave deputy was shot twice in the leg but will survive. He slowed down the shooter long enough to allow SWAT to get to the scene. Dennis Marx, the shooter, was killed in the exchange of gunfire that ensued.

It is tragic that a law enforcement officer was wounded, and that others had their lives put in danger, all because the NRA insists that all Americans, including the unstable ones, have semi-automatic weapons and all because the Republican Party now supports racist criminal tax deadbeats as a knee-jerk reaction.

I believe that these lone "sovereign" nuts are "martyring" themselves for the cause of a new civil war. I think they are provoking almost daily incidents in order to cause Obama to issue a signing statement in some way limiting their gun rights and thereby provoking an all out rebellion.

They are tipping their hand by blogging about how these recent events are "False Flags"engineered by Obama in order to paint the Sovereign Citizen/militia (nut-case) movement as an uprising that needs to be put down by government force.

We are going to see more of this as we dodged a massacre at the Bundy ranch... they will provoke a government response somewhere else. They really believe that a Boston Massacre type incident will cause Americans to revolt against the government. They are thoroughly deluded that they are patriots... a mass delusion fomented by the Koch Bros. astroturfing, the NRA and the REPUBLICAN PARTY. It has metastasized via the internet and now the monster has escaped the lab.

On the Las Vegas cop murders:

"Witnesses told police one of the shooters yelled “This is the start of a revolution” before shooting the officers. Gillespie later said he could not confirm that.
The shooters then stripped the officers of their weapons and ammunition and badges, according to a law enforcement official with knowledge of the investigation. They then covered the officers with something that featured the Gadsden flag, a yellow banner with a coiled snake above the words, “Don’t tread on Me.”

The flag is named for Christopher Gadsden a Revolutionary War general who designed it. It has recently come back in vogue as an adopted symbol of the American tea party movement."

of that task force strikes and kills law enforcement?

No wonder the tea billies were enraged by Holder's move.

Now will the freaky media wake up to the creeping fascism and militarization of hate?

This is terrorism, but a white person using a gun, we can not call it that, only broken people are terrorists according to the all white media owners.

burning crosses and hanging black people haven't been called a terrorist organization yet. Groups exercising their so-called 2nd amendment rights sure aren't' .
not only broken people but brown broken people are terrorist. or brown people who fight back.
there is more than one definition of what terrorism is?

They see any government regulation as to ownership of any type of firearm as unconstitutional. The NFA does not stop them from fabricating full autos as they don't see it as legally binding..

I have no data to back up a WAG, but I think there are way more full-auto weapons in the hands of the very people that shouldn't have them than there were before the NFA was enacted, for the simple reason of the numbers of crazies we now have in this nation.

More guns = more gun violence. More guns everywhere = more gun violence everywhere. More politicians purchased by the right-wing gun lobby = more insane gun policies in places like Georgia, Texas, Arizona, and Nevada causing more gun violence and death.
