I don't care about politics here. I thinks it's atrocious that the Kennedy Center never recognized Mickey Rooney, and still refuse the Mark Twain honors to the Smothers Brothers. Appalling.
But here we have a still healthy legend at 98 who would be the crowning touch at the Kennedy Center Honors. She was simply a great actress, Academy Award winner, and I for one want her honored now, this year. I don't know her politics, and I don't care.
Are you with me?

(66,369 posts)I don't know Olivia De Haviland's politics, and I thought I knew the politics of every Hollywood personality.
I think she is entitled to the honors.
To this day, I'll watch "The Adventures Of Robin Hood" and catch my breath when she's on-screen; she was so beautiful...

How long is she going to last, really? My guess is that she is really not able to accept an honor...98 is pretty old...but at least it would be a fine idea...
maybe they figure she'll die and they can give her a posthumous award...that's Hollywood for ya...

(55,981 posts)How does that enter into deciding whether she should be honored or not? And again with the, "My guess is that she is really not able to accept an honor...98 is pretty old" Why are you guessing on her ability to accept? And "98 is pretty old." Is there some age limit. It sounds like because she is "pretty old" you are ready to write her off.

I stand behind my original post. Olivia DeHavilland should be recognized NOW by The Kennedy Center.
