My daughter just texted saying that her band instructor was arrested yesterday for....what for it....inappropriate communications with a 14 year old boy. She just had a band concert Wednesday.

I always found him annoying, but never saw anything inappropriate....and believe me, during marching band season, I was always there. Though, I do think he was a tea bagger, by some of the things he would say. There were things he would tell the kids that I would have to tell my daughter, no that's not right.

You just never know...

1. That really sucks. Both my son and daughter were in school with adult molesters when they were in

middle school. A female teacher molested one of the boys in my son's class, 12-13 yo. She went to jail. A male teacher sent inappropriate IMs to my daughter and another girl when they were 13 and 14. Turns our he had some history of this. He was fired.

I live in a suburb with a very good school system. You are right that you just would never know. My husband and I knew both teachers. It is good to be involved in your kid's activities and keep communications open.

Not knowing the details I can't really comment, but what could he say, without doing, that would get him arrested? Censured, fired, beat up... but arrested for saying something?

7. To be honest, I have no idea what he did.

He was arrested yesterday during band (the other band class my daughter is not in). The police was told on Monday and he was arrested yesterday. I'm going to assume that he was sexting, because of the fast arrest, but who knows.

Being a band geek from way back when, I hate hearing about scandals coming from music departments, but I guess the numbers tell us it's going to happen eventually.

Small comfort your daughter was never a victim of the creep, but comfort nonetheless.

He loved the kids who were good, and the ones who weren't...oh well.

I was a former band geek too. I, also, wasn't the best, but our band director was awesome to all of us.
