Learned about this via the Chicago's Progressive Talk (WCPT) Facebook. 92.7 in Arlington Heights (north of Chicago) and 99.9 in Park Forest (south) have flipped to Polish.
However, 92.5 in DeKalb (home of Northern Illinois University!) has dropped the overnight "Dance Factory" music programming to carry the 820 AM talk programming 24/7!

(1,186 posts)Instead they have Jeff Santos on instead. I live north of the city and 92.5 is mostly static up here and 820 AM is not much better.

(6,022 posts)I figured things were getting tough for lefty radio, but now I wonder if it will be completely gone soon. I have nothing against Polish stations, but are they really a bigger audience? If so, that's sad.
Now with Ed Schultz and others gone, I'm wondering how long Hartmann, Stephanie Miller, Goldman and Colmes can hold on, given the dwindling number of stations and ad revenue.
I keep thinking what needs to happen is for Clear Channel and Cumulus collapse under their own weight, and we have a radio fire sale. I suppose radio is dying a slow death anyway, but I wonder how many radio people are going to be able to make a living online.
This all sucks.

(25,171 posts)This pisses me off to no end! The AM version isn't real strong where I live, and I'd come to rely on the FM version. ARGH!
Thanks for the information.
