47 Senators Side With Big Oil And Vote To Kill 37,000 American Wind Jobs

Yesterday, 47 United States Senators voted to kill 37,000 American jobs, while giving $24 billion in tax breaks to big oil companies. It’s clear where these Senators’ loyalties lie: They would rather give handouts to the dirty energy of the past rather than invest in the clean energy of the future.

In a largely party-line 51-47 vote (four Democrats side with Big Oil, and two Republicans side with clean energy), the Senate failed to reach the 60 votes necessary to move forward on the Repeal Big Oil Tax Subsidies Act, sponsored by Senator Robert Menendez (D-NJ).

This bill would do two things: End several egregious subsidies to big oil companies, while extending industry-supporting incentives for clean energy. Among those incentives is the critical Production Tax Credit, which encourages investment in wind energy. As we’ve reported before, raising taxes on the emerging wind power industry by failing to extend this credit will kill 37,000 jobs. Indeed, we’ve already seen layoffs as manufacturing companies prepare for the worst.

anything to keep oil the top energy dog. Should primary the Dinos. They are trying to kill the renuable energy. They are against all above ground energy. Don't have to drill for sun or wind.

7. ** This is REALLY a Sad Example of how Crooked our Entire Congress is Today! **

The only thing I was happy for about this, was that MY Senator (Menendez) sponsored the Bill. But it's a BAD Day for America, when we are controlled by the Oil & Energy Companies, the Military Industrial Complex, Wall Street and the Pharmaceutical, Insurance & Medical Companies.

We can NEVER Change this until the People REVOLT (Peacefully), and STOP this Madness from continuing! If you watch "Collapse" ( http://www.collapsemovie.com/ ), by Michael Ruppert, it is very clear that the impending Double Dip Depression coming very soon will be caused BY the Oil Industry, as Peak Oil Production continues to decrease by about 9% per year!

Combined with the fact that Israel has official Military Plans to ATTACK Iran next year (Postponed from this year), in order to control more Oil, and make more Profits from Military Operations, we are in BIG Trouble! I wish that the "Project for a New American Century" was just a bad nightmare, but unfortunately we are LIVING the nightmare TODAY!

In 2001, our President G.W. Bush, along with V.P. Cheney & Rumsfeld, took down three Towers of the World Trade Center. This was planned from January, 2001, in order to Invade Iraq, take over their Oil, and to divert over $1 Trillion from Taxpayer monies, to major Corporate Leaders, Stockholders and Billionaires. ALL those facts have been proven & compiled by over 1,200 Scientists, Engineers & Architects of AE 911 Truth ( http://www.ae911truth.org/ ). In fact, there is a current Petition circulating to demand that Congress reopen Investigation into the Acts Committed on 9/11/01 against America, by our own President. ( http://www.petition2congress.com/6477/911-congressional-review/ ). Please SIGN that Petition, because 911 ties directly into the American Addiction to OIL, and the actions by the New World Order, through their "Project for a New American Century", to Imperialistically take over 7-9 Key Nations, then the World.

Only the Progressive Caucus & the Black Caucus in Congress will Vote anymore for Really Good Bills for the People. That's a Sad Reality!

8. Why were the wind PTC's in that bill?

They might have passed in a stand alone bill. Some of the large oil companies are also into wind energy (e.g. Shell and BP)

9. They are holding back on wind and solar spending

when enough wind and solar go under, they will start to go into it and control that. They can get a lot of solar done by the time they have an oil rig producing.
They can't export sun or wind and control prices. The oil from texas, offshore, or pipeline all goes in same pool and priced from there. They can't export the sun and wind and set prices on that, they make money selling oil not sun or wind. Same thing for the oil speculators on Wall Street.
They can't bottle up the sun and wind in tankers let them float around and say there is a shortage of sun and wind. They like to mention Solandra bankruptcy, but how much damage did BP spill do in Gulf? billions. They are back at it, Solar closed a plant but BP closed a lot of businesses and done a lot of envirimental and ecological damage. Solar will never do that; people should be telling their reps and senators to take the oil subsidies and give them to the renueables, not just for the energy but good paying jobs.

The world isn't exactly waiting for energy innovations from America any more.
