Not going to have someone look at me in the back of a squad car. I am going to the hospital to make sure I didn't have any injuries that aren't visible. Like or a concussion or swelling of the brain or something. And I would want every mark, scratch and bruise documented by hospital personal under the best of conditions. Especially if I had just killed someone over it!
How about you?

(14,857 posts)If I'd killed someone in honest-to-gods, had no choice, had to shoot or I was gonna die, for real self defense, I'd sure as hell want my injuries documented. Then if, gods forbid, I was prosecuted, my attorney would be able to show my records to the jury. So I'd go even if I felt OK physically (if I had to kill someone I'd be a total wreck mentally and emotionally!).
I don't think Zimmerman's terribly bright. Assuming his goal was to shoot someone legally, and I believe it was, he screwed this up in a lot of ways. Babbling on the phone about assholes always getting away and fucking coons (or punks or whatever), going after Trayvon when he ran away, not at least pretending to be afraid he might be badly hurt, behaving too normally at the police station, and so on.

(11,481 posts)to be beaten, bloody and hospitalized for at LEAST observation. Otherwise there's no reason for deadly force.
If I can take care of a physical confrontation without being damaged myself, then I outclass the opponent and there's no reason to use deadly force. If I can't outclass the opponent, I'm going to be beat up. It's really as simple as that.
Now the ONE complication I could forsee to this theory is if I outclass my opponent physically and then HE pulls a gun. Or tries to. That might cause me to feel like I have to use deadly force even if I outclass my opponent. But hopefully even in that case, I would have enough control to be able to do enough damage to protect myself from HIS deadly force and still not kill. In that case though (gun is pulled on me even though he started the confrontation), all bets WOULD be off. I wouldn't allow myself NEAR as much control over my counters as I would before the threat of a firearm existed. If he dies after pulling the gun, he dies.

(2,971 posts)if I was taken to a police station before a hospital. But Zimmerman, hero that he is, doesn't care about money or even his own health, only the safety of those he protects
