(25,294 posts)I just don't understand why the Dems let the Repubs push them around and not lay out the facts as to why this problem exists and has existed for a long time. Prioritization goes back - as I understand it - to 1996. There are other posts on this board that talk to that issue.
It is no secret that the Repubs have not supported the VA with additional funds that they need.
It is no secret that two unjust wars by BushCo contributed to this problem in the VA.
I'm really disappointed in the Dems and the President for not standing behind Shinseki and putting the blame where it belongs - at the feet of the Repubs.

(25,294 posts)he did the politically expedient thing. Politics always wins out unfortunately. I'm disappointed in all those Dems that are more concerned with re-election versus doing the right thing.

(23,664 posts)The beltway media are not going to let this thing die just because the president has joined them in identifying and punishing a scapegoat.
They didn't lay off Obamacare when Secretary Sibelius resigned and they won't lay off the VA now. They'll hang this around the neck of every Democratic congressional and senate candidate they possibly can.
Obama was sort of painted into a corner by the cowards in his own party in the Senate, but he still should have done the right thing.

(531 posts)Sadly another good public servant thrown under the Obama bus. Perhaps the pres can find some one from Goldman Sachs to run the va now, I am sure he can find someone with the right experience for the job

(9,463 posts)have known what was going on, as Chris Matthews just said he should have? He was in the position for 6 years. What was he doing that entire time?

(10,117 posts)...he sees his 'team' as larger than just Shinseki. I say this as a person who thinks Shinseki was not the problem and should have stayed. Maybe our veterans are part of our 'team'...

(531 posts)not post here on DU what I really think about his team leadership.
Let's just say Jan 17 can't get here fast enough for me which really does not matter because it is not like a liberal or progressive will be POTUS anytime soon just replaced with another figure head who is just like the last few POTUS's who pandered to the 1% and talks a good game to the 99%.
Perhaps in 17 he will have time to finally clean the dust off his walking shoes, then again he may not.

(25,406 posts)and walk around to ask the veterans what they thought of the quality of their healthcare?
I'm not sure why so many here are defending this incompetent.
