An update for those who care about my web project (apologies to those who don't)
A while back, I announced that I had put up a liberal-leaning website called WonkyNewsNerd.com.
To recap: Because I am only one person, I have relied on curating material from sources like ProPublica and Common Dreams (which use Creative Commons licenses instead of traditional copyrights) and legally embedded content from RepubHub and Repost. I also have done some HuffPo-style "aggregation" posts.
I think I am satisfied that there is enough good content out there to build from. Now I need to go on to Stage 2. That's the part where I try to recruit good columnists to add original commentary and analysis to the mix. But Stage 2 might have to wait a while. I know some great writers. But I don't feel right asking them to contribute for free and don't have the money to pay them.
Stage 3 is purely theoretical to the point of being fantasy. But the fantasy is to actually get to the point of hiring a couple full-time staff writers and doing some original reporting.
