In fairness to him, he was doing the right thing by having such a private ex presidency. His ill dad combined with his dreadful reputation made it the right thing for both him and the country. But to skip the opening of the 9/11 museum was just breath taking. Not only him but no Cheney, no Rice, and no Rumsfeld. The country deserved to have him and them help mark that occasion. It was the most important event which happened in his 8 years. This would be like Clinton not attending a memorial for Oklahoma city.

(135,861 posts)nothing happened on their watch.
our media obviously has no curiosity about their lack of appearance.
i haven't heard anyone mention this in the msm....question why no one representing their administration came to the opening.
there could be a good argument made that they should have been the ONLY administration there.
they re criminally despicable

(52,166 posts)even if they honestly feel that they aren't responsible for it they still should have come.

(89,262 posts)at the time the people do rally behind the leaders just because it's more about being united.
but with time people look at it more differently and it's not really seen as a good thing that you were the leader when it happened.

(75,480 posts)They have no empathy for the pain around them as long as it isn't theirs. Why would they want that discomfort of being reminded of their biggest failure while in power?
dsc
(52,166 posts)but I still am a bit disappointed.

(910 posts)Very tacky and in poor taste, and cruel to the victim's loved ones. I'm really glad that they all (with the exception of Cheney) have stayed the fuck away. If someone ever asked me to say one nice thing about Bush, it would be that he left us the fuck alone after he had his way with us. Unfortunately the same can't be said for thousand-lives Cheney.

(23,664 posts)and I think they're attempting to pretend it never did.
Besides, they know there might actually be one or two honest journalists hanging around who might ask embarrassing questions.
Slim chance I realize but still
A bigger risk than those cowards are willing to take.

(27,247 posts)that town was home to the late J.H.Hatfield, author of "Fortunate Son", a rather unflattering book about bu$h. A few months after bu$h entered the White House, Hatfield was found dead of an apparent suicide in a hotel room in Springdale, about 15 miles from Bentonville.

about the people that died that day.
he* and his room full of dopes made their colossal piles of money and allowed the door to swing open to allow the corporations to take over the rest of this nation and the world.
so why wasn't george w. moron* not there? because he* was counting his money and laughing at us.

(43,191 posts)So I guess you can say his ex-presidency bothers me in that respect.
But frankly, I'm just as glad that he's not going to the 9-11 museum. He did nothing but disgrace himself that day, staring off into space while thousands of people died. He's not somebody to be remembered positively for anything that day.
