Soon, we'll be fighting for sanctuary and political asylum for India's Muslims.

The right-wing extremist Hindu nationalist government that just won a bogus parliamentary majority in India's election(taking 53% of the seats on 31.7% of the vote)is led by the BJP party-the political wing of the RSS(Hindu nationalist militants who have specialized in sectarian violence against India's Muslim minority and members of other non-Hindu minorities as well).

A member of the RSS murdered Mahatma Gandhi, at the age of 84, for the crime of calling for full inclusion of Muslims in Indian society and for religious and ethnic acceptance for all. Many of the leaders of the RSS were open admirers of Hitler(the RSS salute was almost the same as the Nazi salute)and agreed with his ideas about "racial purity".

Modi himself, at the very least, abetted a pogrom against innocent Muslims while he governed the state of Gujurat. After a train carrying Hindu pilgrims caught fire, killing 33 people, Modi immediately called the fire arson-despite the fact that, at that time, the cause of the fire had not been determined(and, for the record, the cause of that fire has NEVER been determined, and may well have been an accident or the work of provocateurs, for all anyone knows). Modi also refused to send the police out to protect Muslims from mob attacks and refused to call for calm from the public.

In the anti-Muslim pogrom that followed, 2000 Muslims were killed. None of the authorities in Gujarat, at state or local level, did anything whatsoever to protect Muslims from the attacks.

One of the "investigations" that supposedly cleared him of wrongdoing was simply a man interviewing Modi and taking down Modi's responses to the questions by hand, without questioning any of the responses.

When asked if he even felt sadness for the deaths of the 2,000 people, none of whom had had anything to do with the train fire(whose cause, to this day, is officially undetermined)Modi said he felt as said as he'd have felt on hearing that a puppy had been hit by a car.

This is the man the U.S. foreign policy establishment has decided to allow into this country again, after barring him for years.
This is the man who now has unchallenged and unchallengable control of the lndian government, and will be completely unconstrained in his actions for the next four years.

He will very likely treat India's Muslim minority(a group comprising only 16% of the population, and a group that is not guilty of doing India any harm at all)as the European countries treated Jews in the 1930's. I'm not going to say, as yet, that he'll take that to the same ultimate conclusion, but we have to see a Muslim Shoah in India as a real possibility.

Modi's popularity will drop sharply as his right-wing economic agenda increases poverty and inequality...and like European tyrants of the past, he will likely deflect blame for the coming hard times by accusing Muslims of being "wreckers" and "Pakistani" agents(despite the fact that he knows perfectly well that India's Muslims don't take Pakistan's side against their own country and that, if they wanted to be Pakistani, they would move to Pakistan). And his RSS Gestapo thugs will use muscle, clubs, and guns to impose their Leader's will and defend him against those they see as "the enemy&quot a group that will include the secular, progressive majority of India's population).

In the 1930's, when we KNEW the Jewish population of Europe was in mortal danger, our government barred their entry. We could have prevented the Holocaust from ever occurring, but we did not...because too many of our leaders and too many of those who elected them feared the introduction of a large population that was "different".

We must not make the same mistake again. Never Again.

The New York Times, when Schickelgruber came to power in 1933, made the deeply blase' comment that hoped hoped his antisemitic rhetoric was just a passing thing. They, liked the entire U.S. political and economic establishment, defended the exclusion of Jewish refugees throughout the 1930's, and supported the Reich on "anticommunist" grounds for several years("fun" fact: Hitler was the guy who coined the phrase "a bulwark against communism"...to refer to himself).

Between them, the United States and Canada could have accomodated ALL refugees from Naziism...but barred almost all, just because most of those people were "different".
