We Hold Our Verbal Fire To Our Own Detriment

I believe that we should have civil debate in this country. The problem is that we have had no civil debate from the RW and the GOP for over 32 years now. We have had to listen to the verbal vomit from Rush and a growing number of unAmerican mouth pieces for well over 20 years now. Civil debate ended long ago. The rhetoric gets more hateful, sadistic and vicious by the day. Look at the Martin case lately.

The RW has declared their intentions to silence and intimidate progressive, Democrats and liberal movements. They certainly have shown their intention by the way Ms. Fluke continues to be treated. As they continue their attacks and personal character assassinations on anyone who even dares to speak out, they admonish the victims to shut up. They don't have the right. Democrats are too reluctant to call the GOP for the sadistic racist scum they are.

I was drafted as a civilian. I ended up in Vietnam not of my own choice. It was terrifying at a deeply personal level. I will tell you why about my very 1st day in the field in November 1967.

When you get into the military the mission is to teach you to be prepare to kill in combat. Your mind is transformed to work and complete a mission. You are trained into a mind set that one you engage the enemy that you take the offensive and take them down until the surrender or are neutralized. It is no different than being an animal on the Serengeti. So veterans have a very different life experience.

The reason that I am so determined about the GOP is that they have declared war by intent and action. We must understand that they are NOT debating. They are dictating. They have a "take no prisoners" attitude. Democrats really need to get on a counter offensive. Defense will lose and is losing.

Based on what I learned being in the military we are in a situation there retreat is no longer possible. If you listen to the background "eliminationist" code going 24/7 it is obvious that the GOP will never listen.

I do not believe there are no ground rules when it comes to GOP politicians. I do not care if it gets personal. They are doing it all the time. Romney and GOP candidates need to be verbally savaged every way possible. These thugs are going to savage Obama and Democrats any way they can. There is no high road now as far as I am concerned.

Limbaugh, Beck, O'Reilly, Hannity and others are doubling down every day. They need to pay a price and need to feel the pain they are causing others. They are absolutely savaging this young kid every day. The blogs have every right to verbally go after them.

Totally agree, and it's important that the dems ramp it up now.

Is this sentence correct, or did you mean to say "any ground rules" ?

"I do not believe there are no ground rules when it comes to GOP politicians."

The GOP takes a scorched earth policy all the time. If you follow the cases of Tayvon Martin and Ms. Fluke character assassination is ok. They will do anything to savage these people. They get personal and they even lie. I would not lie when it comes to combating the GOP. But if they get personal I would feel free to get personal. I would still stay away from family, but I would not unilaterally disarm on that issue.

Since Rush went after Michel and Clinton's daughter, I might go after his wife. I would go out of my way to enrage him. Put him off of his game.

Even though McConnell is a US Senator as far as I am concerned even if I was a Senator it wold be ok to refer to him as the racist and bigoted turtle faced Senator. I would mock him publicly like he mocked Obama yesterday. If he got insulted I would let him know I meant to and the more was coming. Forget this false collegiality in the Senate.

Top Sergeant Denison saved my life. I will tell that story later. I was his mail clerk and he had me train for company clerk. We had a major come into the company orderly room one day and start ordering around the other company clerk. Top Denison was furious because he protected his people. Top Denison caught this major in the battalion area one day where there were no witnesses. All I know is that Top as we called him took this superior officer who was out of line. I do not know what he said but he scared this major so badly I bet he messed in his pants. We never ever saw that major anywhere near or company area again. When he saw Sgt Denison in the battalion area he would walk across the street.

Privately you have to screw with these people. You have to make them scared of you without directly threatening them. You have to make your enemy think twice about crossing you. If the try to double down then you double down again. You have to be prepared to being brutal and mean. The only way to deal with bully is to go at them. The count on the victim being submissive.

Quoting you: "Based on what I learned being in the military we are in a situation there retreat is no longer possible. If you listen to the background "eliminationist" code going 24/7 it is obvious that the GOP will never listen. "

A unified movement is needed to fight this war.

Because you are absolutely right.

They will not stop until they are forcefully verbally rebuked and made to answer for their party platform, which is "survival of the fittest, and we determine who is fit" at its core.

When you are coming up against people that have a reptilian mentality, you aren't going to convince them you mean business by using logic. You have to convince them with emotion, and fear, because that is the only stimulus they respond to.

Authoritarians only respond to the strongest leader in the junkyard, but to appeal to civil society, good leaders have to have the finesse of also appealing to the people in society that know we aren't "the junkyard".

Right wing whiners are always going to think they are under fire because they are Christian, rich, male or white, and somehow, they didn't get ahead (or as far ahead as they thought they warranted). They didn't get ahead because they had a bunch of things that negatively impact them despite certain advantages.

If you don't get ahead in this society despite being wealthy or despite having social privileges, then turn around and blame it on everyone else, you are a loser of the first order.

compromises, while the RW plays the lowest down and dirty games they can get away with. Not a day goes by when they don't insult just about everyone in this country, and I think we should all be commended for holding ourselves together so far. But--you are right-- it is our reserve that enables their cruelty--and they will take this country down if they are allowed to.

I agree that when people show that they cannot control their own lying, greed and corrupt behavior, that it will be up to us to stand up for each other, in unity and strength. Yes--we have to call out white supremacists by name, sociopathic individuals and corporations by name, war profiteers and ecological murderers by name. Names have power, and we cannot afford to be PC anymore. Call out the criminals, let them know--their time in the Sun is over.

They try to divide us, which is not working anymore----what they fear is our unity, our numbers--and apparently facing the consequences of their acts.

I like your posts TMN, and look forward to hearing more of your stories.
