Anyone see this?? I've got it taped.....
Jon Stewart set Twitter on fire Monday night and into Tuesday morning with a message for Rush Limbaugh: #F*@KYOURUSH.
Stewart featured a report on the Boko Haram terrorists holding more than 200 schoolgirls hostage in Nigeria, and the #BringBackOurGirls campaign on Twitter in support of efforts to save them.
But on his radio show, the conservative host ripped the effort, even calling a photo of First Lady Michelle Obama with a #BringBackOurGirls sign "pathetic."
And that prompted Stewart into an epic takedown of Limbaugh.
"You know what Rush, you're right," Stewart said. "Sometimes the world has to choose sides."
Showing a photo of Malala Yousufzai with a #BringBackOurGirls sign and one of Rush, he gave viewers a chance to choose sides.
"So that's our choice: Malala or Rush -- the quivering rage heap who is apparently desperately trying to extinguish any remaining molecule of humanity that might still reside in the Chernobyl-esque superfund cleanup site that was his soul," said Stewart. "Who should we choose? Well I don't know, why don't we tweet our votes to hashtag #F*@KYOURUSH."

(9,090 posts)may be the clearest signal for news and weather and sports. it's classic psyops. they bought up a talk radio monopoly of 1000 stations and put him on 600. many of those stations are going to be the loudest ones in every state, and in case of emergency.
if you're interested in getting some free current events and politics before going home to relax, in most parts of the US he and his wannabes are all there is.
here's a list of 70+ colleges that broadcast sports on 170+ limbaugh stations https://sites.google.com/site/universitiesforrushlimbaugh/
so they basically rent their sports mascots to endorse him and the 450 other fascist blowhards that vomit think tank-scripted lies from those stations. one of their main works the last 25 years is to defund and privatize those same colleges and attack their teachers and unions!
back to the main point-
there's the other important reason some people listen to him: he has the royal certitude. according to the psych studies, conservatives/authoritarians/fascists have an irrational need to avoid uncertainty and since nothing is certain they're always afraid. certainty eases the fear and becomes more important than truth. in the authoritarian power dynamic, the "i'm never wrong" royal/dictator certitude that limbaugh has and creates, which requires a lot of denial of reality, is great for selling lies.
the easily altered behavior that creates that civilization-ending dynamic and would largely eliminate that authoritarian problem is explained here:

(904 posts)I have 2 family members who listen to the guy. One is a proactive right-winger who listens to Rush like some people go to church. The other has his garage radio tuned to him 24 hours a day. Sometimes they smugly like to bring up points from his show, as if they were clever revelations. When in reality, it's just anti-liberal BS. It's sad actually. The closed conservative mind is like a cancer.

(6,286 posts)and he calls himself a "bleeding-heart libertarian" now. His views, while quite individualistic, have softened a lot. Still, if I were to share the proverbial beer with any of them it would be Alex.
They have definitely moved past Neil's Ayn Rand crush.

reflection
(6,286 posts)I'm such a huge fan it almost can't be exaggerated. Seen them over 30 times and even traveled overseas just to catch some extra shows. Hell, my kids have seen them at least 5 times too. If they were still advocating Randian nonsense I'd have trouble separating the art from the artist.

(2,708 posts)Sing to the tune of 'That's Amore' (pr: ah more ay) once sung by dean martin:
When - the - BULL hits your eye like a bigga pizza pie,
That's a Limbaugh;
When you start to feel blue too much goofy lagoo,
That's a Limbaugh;
Bells go ring, ding a ling a ling, and your head starts to spin, a capella,
It's your due, cause you do, listen to the,
Stupid Fella;
When the bull hits your eye like a bigga pizza pie,
THAT'S A LIMBAUGH!!!
Oh, also an unrelated spinoff from my navy days, same tune:
When you're out on the sea, & an eel's what you see,
That's, a MORAY!
