Tater, Moonpie, and Me

Tater

Moonpie

The kittehs are full tilt boogie. I think all cats live in a Maurice Sendak world filled with wondrous and at times scary creatures. They protect us from the Wild Things that would haunt us. It is an eternal wild rumpus.

One item that Moonpie and Tater saw as an enemy was a new loaf of bread on the counter. I found it in their major play area one morning. The wrapping was pierced in places but there were no tears. I think they considered it a very soft item to jump on. It looked like a bag of crumbs and 'croutons'.

Scat has reached some agreement with them. They only merit occasional hisses. Moonpie looks so hurt when she is hissed at. From time to time I catch Tater staring at a sleeping Scat. She seems to be considering the plus/minuses of a sneak attack. So far, the minuses appear to be too high.

They like to cuddle and sleep with me. Moonpie has settled down. Tater is still in the
squirm and nip phase. I think they see me as the 3rd sister albeit a slow and stupid one. They are very disappointed in me at times.

This thread will probably be locked. My last one was and I received this supportive message:
(I'm requesting that you please post any additional kitty threads in the lounge, here is one the alerts the Hosts recieved)
Enough of this already. Losing a pet hurts, that first thread was fine, but this (update #10 by now?) isn't GD material. Put it in the Lounge or the Pets forum from here on out, pretty please.
(and the hosts concur with this, we've made similar requests of other DUers too)

I post in GD because that's where the people I know are. I had a very hard time after Mousie passed and the messages helped a lot. I still haven't found a new balance to my life. I still have moments no matter if some think I am carrying on far too much.
Thanks to all who have helped!

And with all the true drivel that is posted in GD these days I'm sorry they chose to lock your kittie thread. *I* like reading them and, you're right, more people read GD than anything else, although, I must admit, the Lounge is WAY less "cliquey" than it used to be.

There's tons of other crap that ought to be posted in the lounge, or nowhere on DU, that hangs around GD being annoying - locking threads that aren't offensive and that many of us enjoy is rude.

I'm sorry you had such a hard time. I sure know what that's like.

These two are adorable! I have a friend who has just brought a dog from the shelter into her home with two kitties, so I understand what's going on in this phase.

Four years later, the senior cat still hisses at the junior when she leaves or enters the house. Some things never change. It makes me laugh.

The hissing and slapping and avoidance seem to be coming to an end. Picabo kisses Picasso when ever he can. They both sleep with me and trade sleeping in the favored spot.

Picabo still doesn't know how to purr, but sometimes his little tongue just lolls out of his mouth in ecstasy of being petted and stroked. He's also perked Picasso right up. The 12 year age difference, along with Picasso's privileged life and Picabo's rough and tumble life as a stray make for interesting kitty takes on the world.

...so I am very happy to see this.

I don't understand the locked thread nonsense. If someone doesn't like a topic, why not just ignore it? I have opened any number of threads that turn out not to interest me, and when that happens, I just move on. No need to carp and moan.

Are there other Tater and Moonpie threads that I might not have seen because I didn't know where to look? I don't want to miss anything about these little cuties. The last one I saw was April 12th.

BTW Tater has green eyes and Moonpie has golden eyes.

Their fur is mostly black and gold with russet highlights and stripes. They don't have many solid color patches. The black has golden highlights and the gold has a light covering of black. I haven't seen any white.

Tater announces her presence with a high-pitched kitteh trill. Moonpie does it too but not with the sheer delight I hear in Tater's voice. Tater just seems to be so full of life she can't contain herself. Moonpie is very active but Tater is in overdrive all the time.

This is "general" discussion after all. The minor forums just don't get enough traffic to warrant posting there.

Btw, Tater and Moonpie are so adorable!
