Fox News host Eric Bolling pulled a Rudy Giuliani on Wednesday, asserting that there were no terrorist attacks on "American soil" during President Bush's term in office.
Giuliani famously made a similar assertion in early 2010, saying, "we had no domestic attacks under Bush." Of course, the 9/11 attacks happened under Bush.
Bolling's misstatement came during a discussion on the network's Glenn Beck replacement show, "The Five." He and a panel--which included former Bush spokeswoman Dana Perino--were arguing about whether Bush had been guilty of "fear-mongering" during his tenure. Panelist Bob Beckel said that the former president had used fear-mongering around the non-existent weapons of mass destruction in Iraq. As he attempted to continue his point, Bolling cut him off and started to move on to the next segment.
"America was certainly safe between 2000 and 2008," he said. "I don't remember any attacks on American soil during that period of time." Nobody on the panel challenged this comment.
WATCH:
Bolling recently got into hot water for comments he made about President Obama which some viewed as racist.

And how hot was this water?
I only ask because the hot water doesn't appear to have prevented him from still being on these simple minded shows making statements like America was never attacked by terrorists during the Bush administration.

(6,604 posts)They're already doing it. Assuming that the average knuckle-dragging Fox viewer still owns two interlocking brain cells and can remember who was president before the shrub.
Of course, nobody challenged the assertion! Because Fox + mouth-breathers + Fox knows they're mouth-breathers, etc.
I see a meme coming this way to the effect that the shrub's "Mission Accomplished" turn was to commemorate his clean-up of Clinton's disaster. And it also won't be long before he killed bin Laden.
Jeezus.

(32,723 posts)That was a flop.
It was an offshoot of their prior attempt to claim "Bush inherited a recession" when everyone knew he was handed a surplus.
BTW: That "inherited" bit was used during all through Reagan and Bush The Elder so they figured it would work again. Makes you wonder when America is going to wake up to the fact that there is a difference between running a nasty campaign and the work of governing.

(55,745 posts)In the novel, IIRC, Winston Smith labored at MiniTrue and had to make changes in the historical record by hand -- one article at a time. He'd edit: "We have always been at war with Eastasia" into "We have always been at war with Eurasia."
Today, we have the marvel of the programmable computer. Who needs a Party and its Outer Members when all you need to do to correct the historical record is to click a mouse or press a key?
Nowhere on the tee vee and in no school history textbooks that I've come across over the past 12 years mention Bush getting warned bin Laden was determined to fly jet planes into buildings at the Genoa G-8 summit that summer; that smirking bastard Crisco John Ashcroft stopped flying commercial in August; or even that the CIA bigwigs gave Bush a personal heads-up at the vacation spread in Crawford only to be told: "All right. You've covered your ass."
They should. Democracy depends on an informed People. Or, at least it used to.

When I told him I was out of work, he blamed Obama for (1) not getting out of the way of businesses creating jobs, (2) maintaining stifling regulations, (3) etc.
When I casually mentioned Nixon's connection to the EPA, he shook my hand, wished me well, and took his leave.
(I also took that he'd really like to see another big war, too, pointing out that the economy thrived after WWII, and that FDR had nothing to do with the post-depression comeback.)

(12,336 posts)Because that's the only logical explanation for forgetting about terror attacks on American soil.
If I'm not mistaken, 9/11 happened in New York, Washington DC, and Pennsylvania. The largest city in the USA, the center of government, and a large state. Kind of hard to forget I would think. So it must be the pot, stupidity, or (selective) amnesia.

(712 posts)Born as John Allen Williams, Muhammad joined the Nation of Islam in 1987 and later changed his surname to Muhammad.
After his arrest, authorities also claimed that Muhammad admitted that he admired and modeled himself after Osama bin Laden and al-Qaeda, and approved of the September 11 attacks. One of Malvo's psychiatric witnesses testified in his trial that Muhammad had indoctrinated him into believing that the proceeds of the extortion attempt would be used to begin a new nation of only young, "pure" black people somewhere in Canada
As a member of the Nation of Islam, Muhammad helped provide security for the "Million Man March" in 1995, but Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan has publicly distanced himself and his organization from Muhammad's crimes

And while you're studying that realityjudiciously, as you willwe'll act again, creating other new realities, which you can study too, and that's how things will sort out. We're history's actors

(426 posts)They're still trying to blame the economy on Obama and push the idea that everything bad in this country is the Democrats fault. It's their only hope of winning elections. Some numb nuts are trying to rebrand the civil war as the 'war of northern aggression' and claim it had nothing to do with slavery. They have to shift the blame on a daily basis to distract from the fact that they are heartless and only care about money and power. Sadly, Fox ratings prove that they are not alone in their stupidity. If somebody invented a 'grow a brain pill' they'd come up with a thousand arguments calling it socialism.
