South Carolina GOPer: Public Schools Leading To 'Holocaust In Our Churches' With Teachings On 'Evolutionism' & Homosexuality

Submitted by Brian Tashman on Friday, 5/9/2014 3:10 pm

A GOP candidate for lieutenant governor in South Carolina said yesterday that public schools are pushing a “silent holocaust” in churches by supposedly turning young people away from Christianity. Ray Moore has made criticism of public schools a centerpiece of his campaign, urging the state to replace public schools with an education system led by “churches, families, and private association” and warning that they turn students, like a young Hillary Clinton, into anti-Christian “janissaries.”

I grew up there and I never remember the state or it's people to be so utterly nuts as they appear now.

My parents were Democrats and I asked my dad if the people were are crazy then as they are now and he said no. Something has happened there... I think the influence of the rightwing pushing the guns and religion and patriotism and being such a religious area they fell for it. Just not the South Carolina of my youth....

Medieval period, I believe, like in the Byzantine wars against Constantinople. I don't think they go back to the Crusades, though.

She's no anti-Christian Janissary. Hell, she's a member of "The Family", that organization of fundamentalist congress critters and senators that was in the news a few years ago. I'm sure she only joined because Bill told her it would boost her support among the religious wacko demographic but Ray Moore doesn't know that.
