Comedy Central Picks Stephen Colbert's Replacement

Comedian Larry Wilmore will be taking over Stephen Colbert's post-"Daily Show" time slot on Comedy Central in January 2015 with a new show called "The Minority Report with Larry Wilmore," Comedy Central announced Friday.

"He’s a spectacular talent in front of and behind the camera," Michele Ganeless, Comedy Central president said in a statement. "'The Minority Report with Larry Wilmore’ follows in the Comedy Central tradition – bringing new perspectives to the day’s events and breaking ground in the world of late night television."

1. Wow, I didn't see that coming . . . a black man hosting a program on Comedy Central!!!

I guess they figure that now that Cable One has dropped Comedy Central from here in Idaho it is safe to give a black man his own comedy show on that channel!

Otherwise, if Cable One would have carried Larry's program here before they dropped Comedy Central, the sound of exploding heads in Idaho would have sounded like a Chinese New Year's celebration for days on end!

5. I think "successor" is a better term than "replacement" ...

each has his own style, and one should not be viewed as a substitute for the other. Same for all the other shows that are undergoing similar transitions.
