Obviously NY is blue because of all the people who walk to work in NYC. But making the entire state blue is kind of misleading. And Illinois and Wisconsin are probably only in the 3 to 3.9 category because of people walking to work in Chicago and Milwaukee.

And am I alone in finding Alaska a little baffling here?

... I live in NYC. I think you'll find many more people who take the subway and bus to work than walk.

So if Anchorage is very walkable, it could boost the states numbers. I also assume if people only walk half the year, it still counts. If I lived in Achorage, I would be willing to walk 1/2 a mile in the summer when its 70. When its 0 degrees in the winter, I would drive.
