to determine self defense from the hands of a jury, and gives that power, not only to your local law enforcement, but to vigilantes like Zimmerman.
We can't allow this. It's uncivilized.

(14,337 posts)I personally would have done everything in my power to get a "Community Patrol" person like a Zimmerman OUT of that role in my community.
Maybe there was a REASON the Police Department rejected you, Zimmerman?

(12,310 posts)to college in another state, and there were people who actually felt great about police, all their lives.
My upbringing was in a culture where the cops were seen as enemy. They harassed us quite a bit. So you had to hide from them even when you're doing nothing. They'd take our pictures up against the wall for no reason, and put in a catalogue.
I can't imagine giving that kind of power to the police.
People who have grown up with a healthy relationship with law enforcement, the way its supposed to be, may feel a different about it.
