Limbaugh sees heat over comments turn down to a simmer

Limbaugh sees heat over comments turn down to a simmer

The dark clouds hanging over Rush Limbaugh appear to be lifting.

Exactly one month after the conservative radio host sparked outrage by calling Georgetown law-school student Sandra Fluke “a slut” and “a prostitute” in a three-day diatribe, stations are standing by him, advertisers are trickling back to his program and the news media have moved on.

March 4, 2012: Conservative talk show host Rush Limbaugh has apologized to a Georgetown University law student he had branded a "slut" and "prostitute" after fellow Republicans as well as Democrats criticized him and several advertisers left his program.

Liberal groups that organized petitions and boycotts against Limbaugh say that they intend to keep up the pressure and that they’ve had a lasting impact on the most popular radio host in America.

“The objective has been to show that there are real consequences when someone like Mr. Limbaugh or his company shows no accountability for his actions,” says Angelo Carusone, who has been leading the anti-Limbaugh efforts for Media Matters for America, a Washington organization. “That is continuing.”

At the same time, however, Carusone acknowledged that outrage is hard to sustain. “I think certainly the pressure has been reduced,” he said. “To a certain extent, that’s okay and acceptable. .?.?. Obviously, the intensity is gone, but the engagement remains high.”

So there is bound to be some writer who's paid to publish this fictional garbage.

Will they come back to bankroll that vile human being? Or will they find out that people are still watching, and the intensity can be turned back up?

Reputation.com and Fisher Nuts.

Reputation.com is described as "a prolific Limbaugh advertiser in multiple markets."

He's got plenty of advertising going on down here in Texas and he is boasting of having more listeners than ever. What is the truth?

works with many ad agencies and places national radio commercial buys. I asked him how it has been with the whole Limbaugh thing. He replied "Fucking awful." It has been a complete nightmare for Premiere and Clear Channel. Yes I'm sure some sponsors may come back but he told me most will not. Many won't play ads on any right wing talk radio now.

And once the Trayvon Martin story came along, everybody forgot about slutgate.

I'm confident that Limbaugh will step on his dick again, make some racist comment about this incident, and put himself right back in the spotlight. The Trayvon thing is the kind of story he won't be able to ignore.

http://www.allaccess.com/net-news/archive/story/104220/clear-channel-makes-cuts-in-a-number-of-markets

Word is filtering in from a growing number of CLEAR CHANNEL MEDIA & ENTERTAINMENT radio markets of a lot of downsizing taking place.

ALL ACCESS contacted CLEAR CHANNEL, and VP/Marketing & Entertainment ANGEL ARISTONE confirmed the layoffs: "We are constantly evaluating our organization and structure to make sure we are as well positioned as possible to continue to lead in the evolving marketplace.

"We’ve been looking closely at our business to ensure that we are properly staffed and operating as efficiently as possible with the right balance of services and personnel to meet the needs of our listeners/consumers. Like every successful business, our strategy continues to evolve as we move forward as a company and that creates some new jobs, and unfortunately eliminates others.

"Some employees were effected; these are never easy decisions to make."

Yep...things are going "swimmingly" at Cheap Channel...the way they make sure to pay off rushbo's big contract. They'll stick with him until the bitter end...they have to...

I read the whole article and it doesn't mention a single advertiser returning to Rush's show.

This is spin, an effort by Clear Channel to convince people that things are getting better.
