Benghazi is the number one talking point that the Repubs are using to somehow implant suspicions in voters minds about Hillary and her possible candidacy for the Presidency in 2016. They are looking for ways to shave points from her popularity and hopefully even the playing field so that their 2016 presidential candidate looks more appealing and they have a fighting chance to steal the 2016 election for their candidate.
They are also using Benghazi against the White House and President Obama in hopes to catch his administration in some sort of cover-up that could lead to impeachment proceedings should they win both the Senate and the House in 2014.
This Benghazi tragedy has been useful to the Repubs for those reasons even though the BushCo Administration had more and deadlier embassy tragedies during their run. Hypocritical - yes. Are they embarrassed to use Benghazi in spite of that - no.
A group of us were sitting around the other day and discussing this when someone posed the question - if Benghazi never happened what would the Repubs be jamming on instead?
We all agreed that the Repugs seem to have exhausted ACA aka Obamacare. Doesn't look like they can milk that much longer as it rises in enrollments and popularity amongst the voters.
Monica Lewinsky has come up as of late. The theory is that her new found voice is being pushed by the Koch Bros money and that she is being used by them - most probably knowingly - because she can use the money and her 15 minutes of fame has faded over the years since the Blue Dress incident. Sells books - so why not go with the flow is probably what Lewinsky is thinking.
The group though was kind of at a loss as to what the Repubs would be hammering Obama and Hillary on if no Benghazi. So I thought I'd pose the question here so in case there are looming issues out there we can be prepared for the onslaught.
Any thoughts?

(7,784 posts)comments on the cesspool that is Yahoo, you will see that there is a mantra of issues constantly repeated. I really think these people just copy and paste each others' comments.
It usually goes like this:
Benghazi/Fast & Furious/IRS/Obamacare/Unconstitutional Executive Orders/Barry Soetero was a foreign student at Columbia
My guess is that the GOP would be focusing on the IRS.

Richard Scaife is still alive last I knew. I wonder if he's been approached about funding a modern version of the Arkansas Project yet? If not, it's only a matter of time before someone hits him up.
