2002: Dick Cheney leaks a bullshit story about Iraq attempting to obtain uranium enriching centrifuge tubes to Judith Miller, of the New York Times. Miller publishes Cheney's leaked story, then Cheney goes on the Sunday talk shows claiming that Iraq is attempting to enrich uranium, citing the story HE LEAKED to the Times as corroborating PROOF his claim must be true.Fast Forward to 2013: Lindsey Graham leaks a bullshit story about the Benghazi attack being pre-organized and carried out by Al Qaeda (and not by militias and Al Qaeda bush-league affiliates) to Lara Logan of 60 minutes. Logan runs the story, then Graham goes on Fox News citing the story HE LEAKED to Logan as corroborating PROOF that the Obama Administration is lying about the attack, and vows to block all Obama nominees until he 'comes clean' on Benghazi.
According to the new story in New York Magazine

My comment: WHAT A BUNCH OF TWITS!! Not Cheney, or Graham. Snakes bite people, that's what they do. No...I mean THE PRESS! For falling for the same stunt TWICE. What is it Bush said? Fool me once...shame on...shame on you? Uh...
Senator Lindsey Graham (not exactly as shown)

(5,082 posts)Once we didn't question the official 911 lie we basically telegraphed that we were weak and they could get away with anything. Since people's predetermined belief systems couldn't handle the shock we are now stuck with arrogant shucksters like Cheney, Miller,Logan or whatever other fraud comes our way.

Amazingly, most of the truth was aired live on the MSM.
Then, all of the original coverage couldn't be re-aired because it was too traumatic.
The physicists were labeled "looney", demolition experts (except those handpicked) were silenced, etc.
That was our burning of the Reich-stag, which allowed Hitler (W & Cheney) to suspend the constitution.
and so it goes..

(5,082 posts)Like the Dem Senator Max Cleland, a triple amputee war hero, who quit over it. Democrats were too cowardly and worried about their salaries to come out and speak the truth that many of them knew. It was quite pathetic actually. If it was the 70s or even the 80s there would've been enough noncorporate democrats to speak up but the current ones had to many sellouts in their ranks Paul Wellstone nonwithstanding. It was the biggest scam ever perpetrated with lying about WMDs a close second.

(2,266 posts)please and stop with this blind ally. We don't want to hear about thermite, etc. We need to concentrate our woefully inadequate resources on that lying pig of a Southern Belle wannabe. Thanks

(5,082 posts)If you don't see the relevance then I feel sorry for you. The point is 911 was worse than Benghazi and not only were we unprotected but we were warned, we knew as we always do(our billion dollar defenses weren't thwarted) and we made sure nothing was done to stop it. I don't want to hear about your small mind. I raise wolves by the way so act like one and not a sheep...or an ostrich...or a lemming. There are 4 Star Generals who aren't crazy religious kooks who have come out and said we are being lied to about 911. You can live in your bubble if you wish but telling us to shut up is a power you have hardly earned. Actually you remind me exactly of the right wingers that live in a bubble and no matter what you tell them they still parrot their incredulous views while demanding we all follow them. You are no wolf sir or madem or whatever you are. I still see hope for you though.

We can discredit Lindsey so easily he's hardly worth the time. The guy is probably afraid to come out of the closet and says whatever the military contractors tell him to say. But I for one would love to put a nail in Cheneys coffin or should we say a stake through that vampire non-heart by exposing his lies that were thought up before Clinton even left office. It's not too late for the truth. Look at what is happening in Latin America with trying to bring death squad atrocities to justice 30 years later. I think it's great. Maybe Dems can grow a pair and use this to their advantage by comparing it to 911 and asking for another 911 Commission since the first one was a whitewashed cover up. Dems did it in 1975 with a new Warren Commission and investigation into multiple assassinations. I met Congressman Louis Stokes from Ohio in 1988 who sat on that previous committee. He told me to my face the panel agreed there was a conspiracy to kill JFK, MLK and RFK and that the previous explanation were lies. BUT they couldn't pin it on a specific person. These days people don't realize that's what they concluded because of the phony media pushing lies. He also sat on the IranContra committee and told me when they went into closed doors executive session testimony all the CIA guys were lying through their teeth and he feared for this country under Bush Sr.

(5,955 posts)ginning up controversy, and reporters can sell newspapers and advertising time on TV, they both gain from the incestuous circle of bullshit. Normally it wouldn't matter, except that occassionally massive numbers of people get killed, like in Iraq.
The relationship between the modern infotainment industry and politicians reminds me of that old story about the small town that had a whistle that blew every day at noon. Eventually, the guy who blew the whistle retired, and at his retirement party he met the woman who ran the town's phone-in time clock. He said to her "I'm so glad to meet you. Do you know that every day I would phone in to you so that I could set my whistle by your clock?" And she answered "that's funny, because every day I'd set my clock by your whistle."
