Tweet from Keith Olbermann:Oops RT @thinkprogress The police video of Zimmerman is stamped 7:52PM, just 35 minutes after he shot Trayvon Martin
(FULL VIDEO) - Expert analysis of below video on Sharpton's show points out handling without gloves, continued search which should have been done "on scene", no blood on clothes, walking without assistance OR without police restraint. Also, expert states he just spoke to a witness who said the struggle took place "on the grass", not on sidewalk.
&feature=youtu.be
Doesn't give EMTs and Police quite enough time to treat, clean, heal wounds and change his clothes, huh? At 3 minutes in, notice how Zimmerman casually leans back against the wall while the other policemen are talking. That just strikes me as.. wrong, somehow.

(56,177 posts)The spelling!
Zimmerman's lawyer claims this video is from 4 hours AFTER Zimmerman murdered Trayvon.
Oh what a tangled web we weave...

(14,933 posts)noted that all the 911 calls came in after 1900... so why would the police camera be on a different time schedule than the police dispatch center?
Only some parts of Florida are one hour ahead of EST, but I don't think that would have any bearing. I could be wrong. Still, we're only looking at an hour difference - even if the camera was off, not four.

(1,250 posts)Zimmerman's 1st degree murder of Trayvon Martin happened on February 26th.
Daylight Savings Time didn't start until March 11th, 2 weeks later.
Irrelevant anyway since #1 you lose an hour on the switch from Standard Time to Daylight Savings Time & #2 neither scenario could separate 4 hours from time of murder to time of Zimmerman's police station arrival.

(1,250 posts)Sorry about that. Sarcasm is sometimes hard to detect in text.
I think it won't be long now until Zimmerman is forced to come out of hiding.
That police surveillance video was damning to the story he was trying to sell.
He will be charged & he will be convicted.

(31,849 posts)Maybe. That'll be up to a jury.
And with the area's demographics (82% white, > 9% Black, 11% Hispanic, Median Household Income-$49K) and a political climate of "decidedly conservative, business-oriented voter[s]", the jury will look far more like zimmerman than Trayvon.
SamG
(535 posts)I think defense and prosecution will both want this trial moved far from Orlando metro areas.
Miami or Tamp areas, perhaps.
You're the crim def atty, tell me your thoughts.
1StrongBlackMan
(31,849 posts)I want the trial right there based on the likely jury pool; but I'd pull every delaying tactic in my arsenal. I'd what everyone in the county good and tired of the "media circus" by time of trial.
If the trial has to be moved, I would try my best to stay out of metro areas like Miami or Tampa (too diverse a community) and try for as close to the Alabama/Georgia borders as possible, arguing that, despite this case receiving national attention, border counties have a more diverse media market that focus more on tri-states issues ... therefore, less case-related saturation for the jury pool.
But even with a favorable jury, this case is getting harder and harder to defend by the day.
But then, if I were the defense attorney on this case, I would donate all of my fees to the NAACP Defense Fund and/or the Urban League ... hoping the stench would soon fade.
SamG
(535 posts)Yeah, I have been to the border areas of FL/AL where the "red necks", as they are called, are in the majority.
Defense atty's would either like a quick trial or a delayed trial, as a tactic. I understand that.
I think this trial will be front page news in most of America wherever it takes place.
I agree, I'm not sure a major urban area would be helpful to this defendant in terms of jury pools, which would have more minority membership than in the Seminole county area, next to Orlando.
1StrongBlackMan
(31,849 posts)be looking to avoid "more minority membership" areas, since jury pools are selected from county-wide electoral rolls, that has the effect of diluting any minority representation, everywhere in the county. And those few that appear can easily be stricken, though I would just LOVE to find a Joe Oliver.
No ... I'd be looking for a higher probably of "red necks" and, since I am Black myself, good old white church ladies. LOL.
Thanks for the donation? NAACP or Urban League?
SamG
(535 posts)representing this guy. But I really doubt you would want to have those headaches no matter how much the pay is.
This guy will require an OJ type team of lawyers to defend, I think. The nation and other parts of the world would be watching.
Your hypothetical jury pool selection criteria for the defense is quite understandable, however.

(31,849 posts)I learned after my 1st year ... whatever I do with my time, I still have to shave every morning and kiss my wife and daughter a good day. I could look myself in the mirror, nor kiss my wife or daughter with filthy lips ... so, while everyone is entitled to competent representation, it doesn't have to come from me.
johnlucas
(1,250 posts)I think if the prosecution has all of these witnesses (who are White) on the stand who called 911 during the murder, the jury will be swayed by the folks representing that gated community.
Also remember that some in that community didn't approve of Zimmerman playing neighborhood cop.
I think the extreme level of coverup & police misconduct will overwhelm any of those potential biases.
When Zimmerman is captured & placed under arrest I'm 100% confident that will be his last day of freedom on Planet Earth.

(14,337 posts)"john" on the video talked a man wearing a red sweater. From that I would think that he wasn't allowed to change his clothes, or even take off his jacket in that police video.

as soon as he was handcuffed. They know those cameras are there

But to what end? Why not stage it so he looked like he'd been in a fight? Would have only take a few minutes, have him roll on the ground and squirt him with a ketchup packet. I think it can also be interpreted as perfunctory - as if anyone would ever look at the video, which in their arrogance they never believed would really ever happen.
EmeraldCityGrl
(4,310 posts)EMT's, neighbors, whomever that witnessed him immediately after and that would have been
impossible to plan and set-up. But I can imagine in the car on the way to the station ( about 34 minutes later)
they were plotting how to proceed knowing those cameras would be the first to video GZ. They were likely
getting feedback and instructions from Daddy Z. No way they pulled up knowing those
cameras were there and didn't perform the way they thought the fools who might view it later
would expect. They never expected the world would one day be viewing and analizing it frame by
frame.

DU absolutely thrives on conspiracy. Especially when something disagrees with the accepted narrative that "cops bad", not that this does.
I get it now, the cops are agents provocateurs...!!

(36,437 posts)What if no clock functions properly there? What if we entered an alternative universe where time functions properly everywhere but in the Sanford Florida police station?
What if? What if? We should wait for evidence on the space-time vortex before coming to any conclusions!

(2,133 posts)By the officiers. They let him walk untouched....that is something I was told NEVER happens with a person in handcuffs.....when a suspect is in handcuffs they are always being held by a arm or by the the cuffs behind the back.
jpljr77
(1,004 posts)walking without assistance OR without police restraint.
He certainly appears to be in handcuffs in this video.
Also, again, the one cop does look at the back of his head.
This whole thing is a total cluster, on all sides, with nearly everyone jumping to absurd conclusions based on small snippets of fact. I'll remind everyone that there is a whole of gray area between "racist cop wannabe stalks and murders innocent black child," and "super-thug youth jumps upstanding citizen unawares, forcing use of defensive deadly force."
Wouldn't everyone agree that we're solidly in that gray area? What if local prosecutors land on a "gray" charge, like stalking or menacing or even assault, but not murder or any other wrongful death charge? Will everyone be super-pissed or super-happy?
