Why do they keep telling the LIE that George Zimmerman was a neighborhood watch captain?

Seriously. I saw the Martin family lawyer say, POINT BLANK, George Zimmerman was not, is not, and never has, belonged to any neighborhood watch program.

They are trying to very subtly paint this asshole Zimmerman as some type of authority figure. In doing that, they can then very subtly and insidiously plant in the minds of the public that Trayvon was "uppity".

A lot of people fall for this type of subliminal shit. I for one, don't.

Zimmerman was the self-appointed Sheriff in town.

Love to know if he tried to become a law enforcement officer and got turned down.

chapters are registered and that wasn't one of them. He also made a point that a very basic tenet was that you are not to carry ANY TYPE OF WEAPON, mace not even a metal flashlight and you CERTAINLY aren't to confront a suspect. YOU ARE NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH, the eyes for law enforcement and that's all.

I can't find it now; but, in the very early days of this, somebody dragged up a mailing from the HOA to the residents. Its telling people to be on the lookout for crime; and, it says to contact the neighborhood watch 'Captain', George Zimmerman....the quotes indicating that this was an informal title.

I have seen news segments filmed at the community gates; and, the familiar blue neighborhood signs are there...so it seems they had a program; and, they unofficially deemed Zimmerman to be the leader.

Now, they may not have had an 'official' organization, sanctioned by and trained under the guidance of the national organization. Its possible that the community originally had this, when the signs went up, but let things slip to an organization of one - Zimmerman.

I think the question is moot, however. AFAIK, being a part of neighborhood watch does not impart any additional authority. He could have been wearing a neighborhood watch ballcap and t-shirt, and it wouldn't have changed the situation.

but so many out there actually trying to justify it, and the lengths so many are going to for "justification" has really shook my core belief that, in general, we were moving past our racist ways.

Don't get me wrong, I wasn't born yesterday, of course I know racism is alive and well. I even subscribe to the theory that EVERYONE is racist. One of my favorite quotes is "everyone is racist. The question is, what are you going to do about it?" So with this in mind, it has floored me just how many are absolutely willing to go to bat for Zimmerman, how far so many will go to justify his actions.. Like I said, I knew racism was still alive and well, but I really didn't think it was still as prevalent as it is now appearing to be. It's been a while since something has depressed and disheartened me so much.

I rather like the idea of tossing out the corrupt greedy senators and appointing myself a god emporer. But maybe also because I like warm indoor baths in small swimming pools and wearing light comfortable unconstricting bedsheets.

All hail Caesar.

.. nor is there anyone else in the group he is "captain" of. He is in my opinion a mentally unstable person who wanted desperately to be a police officer.

WIth all those 911 calls, it's a shame that nothing could have been done about him before he took a promising young life.
