Julie Miller: George Clooney Interrupts Engagement To Eviscerate Las Vegas Hotel Mogul
Wynn decided to make an appearance on Bloomberg to dredge up the old argument and further diss the groom-to-be. George didnt call me an asshole, Wynn said. He was a little into the tequila, but he is fun to be with. Hes a good storyteller. . . .George Clooney is fun to be with. . You just have to watch your timing. Presumably having had enough with Wynns condescension and self-serving cable interviews, Clooney has issued a new statement in which he eviscerates the hotel tycoons argument piece by piece.
Steve Wynn and I have met three times, two times for dinner. That is the extent of our knowledge of one another, so I will refrain from trying to categorize him based on the little time weve spent together, but I will not let his version of the truth go unchallenged. He now says he didnt call the president an a. That is false. He bellowed I voted for the a, and then called him the same thing several more times as the dinner came to an abrupt end. Again there were eight people at the table, eight witnesses. I did in turn, call him the same body part, and walked out. Again he can make up whatever story he wants, but these are the facts. He said I drank 16 shots of tequila. I didnt drink one shot of tequila, not one. We were drinking but it was early and we still had two events to attend.
He said I live in a bubble. More of a bubble than Las Vegas? Honestly? He says Im molly coddled, that Im surrounded by people who coddle me. I would suggest that Mr. Wynn look to his left and right and find anyone in his sphere that says anything but yes to him. Emphatically. I did not attend a private boys school, I worked in tobacco fields and in stock rooms, and construction sites. Ive been broke more of my life than I have been successful, and I understand the meaning of being an employee and how difficult it is to make ends meet. Steve is one of the richest men in the world and he should be congratulated for it, but he needs to take off his red sparkly dinner jacket and roll up his sleeves every once in a while and understand what most of the country is actually dealing with or at least start with the fact that you cant make up stories when eight people who are not on your payroll are sitting around you as witnesses.

Two handsome men in that photo.

(297,767 posts)So many great quotes.. where to begin..
"Steve is one of the richest men in the world and he should be congratulated for it, but he needs to take off his red sparkly dinner jacket and roll up his sleeves every once in a while and understand what most of the country is actually dealing with
or at least start with the fact that you cant make up stories when eight people who are not on your payroll are sitting around you as witnesses."
"What happens in Vegas . . . doesnt stay in Vegas when you are George Clooney and get in an argument with a hotel tycoon over President Obama. There were 9 people at that table. . .So you can ask them. . .Steve likes to go on rants. . .HE called the president an asshole. . . that is a fact. . .I said the President was my longtime friend and then he said your friend is an asshole. . . .At that point I told Steve that HE was an asshole and I wasnt going to sit at his table while he was being such a jackass."
I'll just post another pic of George and the President.. from your link.
That's what friends do.. they stick up for each other when they're being attacked by a jackass. Gotta love George Clooney, she. Mahalo~
I couldn't pass it up when I saw it, just had to post~

(81,521 posts)DO NOT EVER let their version of events be the last word. If they declare something is true that YOU know is false, don't leave it with their version as the only version standing, or on the record. DO A REALITY CHECK!!! Always correct the record! Do NOT EVER let the bad guys get the last word, or try to spin something that's wrong, phony, or insulting/damaging. Especially when the record proves again and again that they usually just made that shit up so your guy or your side looks bad.

Meanwhile, Clooney clarified that Winn is not only NOT a BBF but repeated that Winn is an asshole.

(26,656 posts)Having grown up watching the likes of Edward R Morrow and Walter Cronkite, I'll never forget my shock the first time I saw an interview with some conservative congressman who said something blatantly false, a complete lie. The interviewer moved on to another issue. I was screaming at the teevee, tell him to explain, tell him to explain, but they just went on to the next lie.
Now that is the way it always is.. lies and "we'll have to leave it there."
Never leave it there.

besides being so very handsome and an outstanding actor / director, he gives off the same vibe to me as does Bruce Springsteen - they are celebrities who never forgot where they came from, and who care deeply for the plight of people not as fortunate and successful as them; yes INDEED. As for Mr. Wynn, he can royally fuck himself.

(83,940 posts)You are so right, Clooney and Springsteen are for every one. Wynn is for Wynn and in that he loses.

(83,940 posts)His stock was an aberration at $35 a share back in 2008... back when Bush tanked the economy. The interviewer on Fox caught him in the lie of blaming Obama!!!
Thank you tomm2thumbs! Priceless indeed!

(14,178 posts)I love it how when he is caught in his stupidity/lies he immediately starts blabbing about how the media likes to distort things with sound bites and editing etc...and he is allowed to go on about it until he eventually runs out of anything to say. lol

(401 posts)And a really good read.
Thanks for the posting. Mr. Clooney is scarily articulate, and even so off the cuff, and if he gives up his present day job he ought to have a national pundit post. I saw him in an Hawaii-based film, The Descendants, and it was a spectacular tour-de -force on the part of a lot of fine actors. The film got the Hawaii-lawyer dress code exactly right, and it looked really authentic.

I'm guessing his parents are very proud of the kid.

(711 posts)his own tv show in Cincinnati back in the 60s-70s! It was very entertaining and he was a great host and I attended the show a couple of times. George did not come from just working stiffs but did come from a show-business background thanks to his dad and his aunt. Doesn't make him less anything - he's a great actor and I'm damn glad he's a Democrat and can be articulate when he's angry.

(135,425 posts)It's not like his dad working in Ohio gave him entree to the halls of power and his own private jet, or anything like that. My point was that his family survived on a salary that was within the bounds of "regular."
I remember when his dad ran for office; I was hoping he'd win.
