It hurts. At least mine did. But it is the only way to stop the bleeding in some cases. It isn't a normal nosebleed from the heat or something. It is a nosebleed that gushes from way up inside your nose.

5. Not me, but my brother has.

His nose had to be splinted under a heavy bandage, and he had to be prescribed powerful painkillers, including Stadol. It itched so badly he couldn't get to sleep; bled profusely when it happened. It altered his ability to speak for weeks. And since it healed crooked the surgeons told him it would have to be re-broken to be fixed. It was so much trouble he opted to live with a crooked nose.

If Zimmerman's nose were broken it would be baldly obvious. Zimmerman did not have a broken nose. It would require immediate emergency attention.

we were teenagers and I had a pair of her pants on. She said "give them to me". I said "make me". She hit me in the nose one time. I don't' remember it being broken, nor did it swell or cause black eyes. What it did do was bleed like a MF-er for about 30 minutes. She got her pants back, but she couldn't wear them, they were covered in blood.

13. Yes. Had a little area on the side of the bridge of my nose

slightly caved in as a result of a horrible skiing accident when I was 21. My ski tip hit my nose, left a flap laceration, and a good bit of puffiness and pain on palpation. No black eyes. 6 months later when the puffiness finally resolved, I could feel the slight divot in the bone. If you didn't know exactly how it felt before the accident you wouldn't be able to tell, but the skin on my bridge is thin and I knew exactly how it was supposed to feel, lol.

I had so many other more serious injuries, the nose was the least of my concerns. It didn't bleed, and like I said, no black eyes or obvious nasal bruising.

Probably not representative of the typical nasal fracture........

14. I broke my nose when I was a kid

Not only did I have blood all over my face, but I had 2 black eyes. I was only 6 at the time, but boy do I remember that day. When I got home after going to the doctor I started to cry. I couldn't stand to look at myself in the mirror.

On a side note, I had to get my nose cauterized when I was 17 years old. My nose was never the same since I busted it. It wiggles wrong now. Almost like Bewitched!!

years ago, while putting a cow in her stanchon for milking she lifted her head playfully (suddenly)and really bashed me in the face (nose first) hard.
I actually saw stars, my nose bled down my shirt and on my jeans and swelled up very quickly. I was pretty shaken up. Had to go in an lay down with a bag of frozen peas. I had bruises under my eyes and on my nose. I didn't have x-rays or exam, (little money, no insurance) and it wasn't until later when I started having sinus problems that I went to the Dr. and was told I had deviated septum and had broken my nose.

I'm surprised that there wasn't blood on Zimmermans shirt or jacket. I'm also surprised that his face doesn't appear to be swollen. Mine surely was.

* Accidentally got my nose slammed in a car trunk. Person wasn't looking and closed the trunk door on it. I didn't go to the hospital and let it heal on its own, but the blood amount was astonishing. Looked like I just got out of a GWAR show.

* Shoe landed on my nose in an S.O.D. mosh pit. Didn't even realized it happened until 3 minutes later when I noticed spattered blood on the shirt in front of me. I sat out for 15 minutes, cleaned up, went right back in.

* Airbags went off after I rear-ended a car. To this DAY I still don't know how that happened. I was stopped at a red light, the light turned green but the car ahead of me didn't go . . . next thing I know, the airbags popped me dead in the face, knocked my glasses clean into the back seat and cost at least $400 superficial damage to the windows and other things. The blood from that airbag pop was all down my shirt. Needless to say, I wasn't going to work that day.

Based on the size of his nose and cleanliness of his clothes, even in grainy footage, Zimmerman is full of SHITE.

27. Two broken noses - one playing basketball in HS, the other from getting kicked by a bull

The first one didn't bleed at all but my whole face was swollen and bruised.

The one with the bull seemed like it would never stop bleeding. They stuffed my nose with cotton and I had to breathe through my mouth for what seemed like months.

Lots of blood, black eyes both times, and the second time my nasal bone ripped through the skin which also bled a lot and left a scar that I still have almost thirty years later. That said sometimes people say "broken nose" when it isn't actually broken. Even in my case I say "broken" though it wasn't smashed flat or sideways, and I didn't go to the hospital to get it fixed, either. Still, on both of those occasions I remember having cotton stuffed in my nostrils until the next day, and even for weeks after that it was apparent that I'd had my nose broken.

The first,... I had massive bleeding and by morning the whole top of my face was swollen and purple. I could barely open my eyes enough to see. The second, no bleeding or swelling but my nose sat sort of under my left eye. The third, swelling and black eyes but no bleeding. I may have broken it once more playing hockey since, but didn't get that one checked out ... it bled a lot, but was approx. in the middle of my face so all was good. Each time though there was something to show it had been broken.

Imo, Zimmerman would (should) have at least had a cold compress in his hand over his face. More breaks bleed than not, so I'd have expected blood down the front of his shirt. What bothers me more, is that, if he shot Martin in such close quarters as he said, there would have been Trayvon's blood on him somewhere ... yet no gloves by the police to avoid contaminating evidence, no confiscating his clothes ........... nothing like that. And, why they're making such a big thing of his possible broken nose is really scummy, imo. If I'd been afraid and fighting for my life against someone who'd been stalking me and seemed threatening, a broken nose would be minor compared to what should have happened if it went the way Zimmerman said it did. None of his story makes sense at all and it's horrible what they're (the PD and media) are doing to Trayvon Martin even in death. From innocent child coming back from buying skittles and iced tea stalked and terrorized, all the news now is what harm he did to Zimmerman while fighting back. I really hope Zimmerman is held accountable for this, it's awful to think a child could be murdered and no-one pay.

38. About 3 weeks ago I tripped and hit my nose on my great granddaughter's head. I fell to my knees

and there was a small amount of blood that ended by itself. But my nose swelled and hurt for weeks. It was not broken but it was sore. Just this experience convinces me that zimmerman did not have a broken nose.

I did not know I had that much blood in my body. It was severely swollen, had paks up both nostrils and a cast on my face for two weeks.

What really pissed me off was I was beating my opponent by 3 points by the end of the second round. The ref had given him two standing 8 counts in the second round. But in the corner between the 2nd and 3rd round my trainer told me I needed the experience so he told me to let up on the kid, and not knock him out. I never followed that advice again.

I was 6 and clocked full force in the nose by a classmate. Blood streaming right away down my face. Took awhile to stop the bleeding. I had a lot of blood down the front of my shirt. I did not have black eyes, but did have a good amount of swelling.

I am not convinced Zimmerman's nose was hurt badly.
