Today-"Neighbors want architect's dream home torn down: 'It's devastating' "

Looks to be a good old property fight brewing in North Carolina. Watch, read and discuss! http://www.today.com/money/neighbors-want-architects-dream-home-torn-down-its-devastating-2D79606820?cid=social_20140501_10961154

Scott Stump TODAY contributor

A couple's dream home has divided a North Carolina neighborhood over its design.

Architect Louis Cherry and his wife, Marsha Gordon, have drawn protests from some of their neighbors in the Oakwood neighborhood of Raleigh who say the style of the new house does not fit in. There are about 600 homes in the neighborhood, from turn-of-the-century Victorians to shotgun bungalows valued anywhere between $200,000 to several million. At issue now is whether Cherry and Gordon can be forced to tear down their two-story, two-bedroom home because of objections by neighbors.

But it's never gonna be a standout lol. Add some trees and flowers and at least it won't be an eyesore.

when it's finished. May not be the style some would choose but nice, full, landscaping will change the look of the property quite a bit. Not to mention what finishing it will do.

i would stand with the new home owners.

i have seen this in neighborhoods. where the most unwelcome style pops up, changing a street. one in particular that i am thinking of. looking at houses, i would not move on the street cause of that home.

I wish they added some artist renditions so we can see what it is supposed to look like finished.

If he broke no laws or restrictions, it's too darn bad that the neighbors don't like it.

If I remember right, they have to post when and here it will be. And I would think this would be important enough to check it out.

I see no reason why he should be forced to halt construction or tear it down. The house doesn't look unattractive to me, and unless the neighborhood has some special historical significance there is no reason a new house should have to be same style as existing ones. In fact, variety is good.
