TSA bars mute stroke victim from flight, forces 8-hour bus ride

A woman claims an airport security agent refused to let her disabled sister on board a plane because she couldn’t say her own name.

Sherry Wright says she was shocked at the treatment they received at Los Angeles International Airport, where her sister Heidi was due to fly to Phoenix.

The problems began when Heidi, who was left wheelchair-bound and unable to speak or write after a stroke a decade ago, was stopped by the Transportation Security Administration due to an expired driver’s license, CNN reported.

Wright claims the TSA agent was rude and insensitive, insisting Heidi talk.

“I showed her ID, her (Social Security card) and her DMV papers,” Wright said, to no avail.

“He just wanted me to make my sister talk, and I couldn’t believe it.

Some people complain about the TSA, but then you hear a story like this and it reminds you why we need them.

This was tweeted out by Misha Collins (Castiel on Supenatural/gishwhes founder) as a jab at the TSA. He is making a few short films about them to show later this month I believe. Recently cast member Jared Padalecki was stopped and went through a hassle on the way to filming the season finale (which was fun to follow on twitter). Seems like no one likes the tsa.

Show Description:

Dear Soon-to-be Frisked Passengers:

This Saturday, we invite you to join Creation Entertainment’s Supernatural convention in Washington D.C. without ever leaving your living room.

In this LIVE ONLINE EVENT, Rob Benedict, Richard Speight, Matt Cohen, and other “surprise" guests will introduce, discuss, and broadcast something that’s of the utmost importance to me...

Anyone who knows me well, knows that I’m passionate about passenger security. Last year, this passion inspired me (in collaboration with my wife and a friend) to write a series of 3 short TSA training films (which I also directed). We hope these films will compel the TSA to take their screening procedures to the next level.

After all, if it WASN'T a TSA fuckup they'd go for the throat instead of this passive aggressive "PROBABLY could have been handled differently by the family" bullshit in their so-called "regrets."

TSA spokesperson Nico Melendez told ABC7 that it regrets the incident.

“I think it could have been handled differently by the TSA and it probably could have been handled differently by the family, and hopefully moving forward the family won’t have this problem again, because they know about the programs that we have in place,” Melendez said

7. True. "Regrets" here seems to have the same usage as a caught criminal...

As in "I regret that I got caught and this is being publicized."

And then a healthy dose of "Blame the victim."

Speak disabled person, our high school trained falluja veteran behavioral specialist, better hear your name of your off the plane.

I shocked a TSA Agent who was being abusive when I said to her. "you are so powerful, I'm so impressed". It satisfied her ego and called her out.

5. It has been time for some time to dismantle the TSA....

they do NOTHING to improve air safety in this country. In fact I suggest they make it worse.

No need to go to private security screening companies either. Tear out all the metal detectors and porno scanners. Allow people to both see their loved ones off and meet them at the aircraft.

Instead you use the Israeli model of behavioral profiling. You look for passenger behavior. This screening granny for fear she might have a bomb inside her bag alongside her crochet needles is insane.

and she could not walk without a walker that has wheels. She was in the TSA at the Phoenix airport in her wheelchair. They took off her shoes and made her stand. She was very unsteady and she got scared and she called out my name and yelled for me to help her. I immediately approached her and a TSA agent blocked my way and told be I could be placed under arrest if I proceeded. I tried to explain, but he would not listen. My mother was in tears by the time they were done with her.

Ironically, she ended up on 60 Minuets when they did a segment on the TSA.

10. The video shown on 60 Minutes was not shot the same day as the incident that I described.

I don't know when the shot that video. I don't recall and videographers in the TSA area of any airport in which I was with my mother. It would have to have been either MSP or PHX. She was no longer a le to fly alone so I escorted her to Arizona and back to Minnesota while my father would drive. She's been gone for six years, bur my father is still an Arizona Snowbird.

An external bag collects his urine. It works very well. He's a pretty active guy, and he never has a problem with the bag leaking. But those TSA jackasses tugged and prodded the bag so much that it came loose and spilled piss all on his clothes. They didn't even apologize.

11. Its not just the TSA it's customs enforcement at the borders as well

Basically a bunch of losers with an attitude, hoping you'll argue back. Then they'll put you on the bureaucratic punishment train, to show you how powerful they are.

I've seen their power trips in action.

US customs enforcement might be the only border inspectors that are armed and ready to kill the visitor, I haven't seen it anywhere else.
