From Boehner to Rush: Republicans Are Crushed as Obamacare Enrollment Hits 17.8 Million
By: Jason Easley

Republicans are so crushed by the news that total ACA enrollment has reached 17.8 million that they are immediately trying to forget Obamacare, and are changing the subject to Benghazi.
The numbers via an HHS press release:
HHS also announced today that more than 4.8 million additional individuals enrolled in Medicaid and CHIP through the end of March 2014, compared to enrollment before the Marketplace opened last October.
More than eight million Americans signed up through the Marketplace, exceeding expectations and demonstrating brisk demand for quality, affordable coverage, said HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius. In addition, over 4.8 million more people have been covered by states through Medicaid and CHIP programs, around 3 million more Americans under 26 are covered under their parents plans, and recent estimates show that an additional 5 million people have purchased coverage outside of the Marketplace in Affordable Care Act-compliant plans. Together we are ensuring that health coverage is more accessible than ever before, which is important for families, for businesses and for the nations health and wellbeing.
If we exempt the three million kids who stayed on their parents plan, because they didnt enroll, the total number of people who now have coverage thanks to the ACA is 17.8 million. The majority of ACA enrollees are white (62.3%) and female (54%). Thirty-four percent of those who enrolled are under age 35, and 28% are age 18-34.
Republicans have reacted to the fact that they were completely wrong about the ACA, by changing the subject to Benghazi.

It isnt just John Boehner and the Republican Party. From Fox News to Rush Limbaugh, nobody is talking about their crushing defeat on the ACA. The word is Benghazi. The news is so bad that Republicans arent even trying to spin it. They have resorted to pretending that it doesnt exist.
Reality cant be allowed to touch the Republican masses. They must be distracted with another bogus scandal before they realize that the Republican Party has completely failed to destroy Obamacare.
The Republican Party looks like they are in the middle of a full blown nervous breakdown, as they are incapable of handling the success of the ACA.

(11,650 posts)They worked overtime to brand the ACA as Obamacare to appeal to their racist base and now the branding is coming back to bite them. They doubled down and lost and the only out is to try to change the subject and since they have done nothing positive to point to, it will be all Benghazi all the time. The House Agriculture committee will start investigating how Benghazi has impacted soybean futures in Iowa.

(182,826 posts)They could never understand that people liked Clinton. They simply couldn't process it. They were just sure that they could snap the public out of the collective stupor.
Add in race and they have literally flipped their lid.
As with Clinton they think they can achieve this through endless pointless investigations.

The day will come I think when there will stop refearing to healthcare reform as Obamacare since they would have to admit obama

(45,447 posts)from more people being employed, more of them signing up for their employers' plans, and more employers offering plans even though their mandate doesn't start yet. Many small employers have jumped on the opportunity to buy small business plans when their marketplace opened, even though its not required.
More Americans are getting more insurance coverage than at any time in our country's history. This is not going to go backwards. The only direction from here is forward. This is the constituency who will get us to universal single payer.
And once again, I am just loving the fact that white women have screwed the GOP, yet again! Bwahahaha!
Young women seem to be more interested in health insurance than young men.

(3,919 posts)especially for those who finally have healthcare after never having had any or having gone without for so long - for so many reasons.
and, i pray no one ever goes through having to face bankruptcy or use up their entire 401k or 401c3 to cover the cost of medical care for a loved one - leaving nothing for themselves or other family members - ever again. btdt.
i now look forward to single payer
let's get it started in here!

(26,623 posts)He retired in 2012, before he turned 65. He has diabetes and a pacemaker.. on and on. He worked for the oil and gas industry and they paid him very well, six figures with excellent health insurance. They kept him and my sister in law on the company plan until he qualified for Medicare in 2013. He would have had to keep COBRA for my sister in law, who has had multiple health issues and it would have cost him $1200/month. Because of the ACA, and no pre-existing conditions, he was able to insure her for $875/month.
They don't qualify for subsidies and he got the best plan he could get.
THANKS OBAMA!!
