He also cannot participate in any league business going forward.

A suspended owner cannot attend games, participate in day-to-day operation of the team, etc..

Marge Schott and George Steinbrenner were both suspended at various times in baseball.

an NBA team is a franchise
they have rules set out by lawyers way above my paygrade

does not matter what the should or should not have done
think it was more defined by what they could or could not do.

I think there's trouble in this one. It smells like - 'we don't like you so go away'. We stopped them from behaving this way on our gay community, not comfortable with this one at all.

I thought they'd soft shoe him out. Everybody knows he's an ass, things would have fallen apart piece by piece if they played a sharper legal hand. I have to wonder what the tools are, too.

Getting the media attention back onto the playoffs should be the NBA's top priority. Hopefully the "indefinitely" period will involve him finding a replacement owner. If not, both fans and advertisers should start boycotting the rest of the NBA.

And it seems like just a year ago when the playoffs were terrorized by a gay player.

all of them. They all knoew what Sterming was like and was doing prior to the fated TMZ leak. Now because of words, sponsors are dropping like flies, the league is acting suprized and offended. They manner in which he became wealthy was suspect enough. More detailed analysis of every owner should be done, but will it?

Sterling lives to sue people. He got his start as a lawyer. I suspect he'll get more enjoyment out of the lawsuits than he does from the team. Can't be helped, the NBA did the right thing, but it's going to be messy.

There should not BE a next NBA season.

Though it's nice that we won't see his face at the games anymore, it doesn't really stop him from continuing to run things, does it?

quite quickly. If there isn't enough support from the other team owners then a boycott of all teams whose owner refused to vote for the forced sale would be necessary to send a clear message, imo.

Because profits are important, right? Without them, what would get done?

I feel all tingly.
