How exactly would Trayvon have known that Zimmerman had a gun? Was Zimmerman walking around with his gun in hand? Was Zimmerman approaching Trayvon with his gun drawn? Either one would be a huge no-no.
But if Zimmerman had his gun concealed, then how would Trayvon have known he was packing? Most people don't walk around carrying guns, so doubtful that Trayvon would have made the assumption and tried to grab it.
Everything that Zimmerman and his pals are saying stinks to high heaven.

they are throwing it all out and anytime facts come up that go against them they throw out something else.

(22,144 posts)Common for a warmer climate. The Kel Tec pistol is not overly large. Given the jacket that was shown in the video released tonight, it would have been hard to spot the concealed weapon, even for an experienced person. For example Ofc. Smith in his report does not say he spotted the weapon, he said that Zimmerman told him he was armed.
Especially after seeing the new video, any claims of self defense sure seem untenable.

(11,065 posts)I could be wrong though. I doesn't look to me like that jacket would conceal the bulge and that Martin couldn't have seen him wearing it. If he was running after Martin (and it seems he did) I would think an unzippered jacket would flap open and expose the waist holster. I know if I saw some guy with a waist holster on I'm going to assume there's a gun in it, but I'd already be shitting my pants that some strange dude was chasing me with or without a visible gun.
I think it's entirely plausible that Martin at some point noticed the gun and in fear of his life may have tried to get it away from him so he couldn't shoot with it... use it on him, threaten him with it, throw it away or turn it around and bash his head with it. Sadly, Martin was not able to get it away from him and was indeed shot with it. If I was in Martin's position, you're damn bloody right that if at any point I noticed this nutbar that was chasing me for no reason had a gun I'd want to get it the hell away from him. That poor kid must have been completely terrified.

(22,144 posts)Generically, the odds are Martin did not recognize it. Obviously no actual information on this situation is available.

(11,065 posts)looked like a gun holster at close range. What in the world else would he think a waist gun holster was other than what it is? I'm not getting how a waist gun holster wouldn't be visible to begin with particularly on a guy with a tucked in shirt. If it wasn't at all times concealed under his unzippered jacket (and I'm not seeing how that's possible) how is it that this thing could magically go undetected especially at close range?

In broad daylight, it's near impossible to detect, much less at night, in the rain.

a) Trayvon jumped him from behind while we was walking back to his truck after losing him
b) Trayvon attacked him when he got out to look at a street sign
c) Trayvon confronted him and asked him if he had a problem, punched him and said, "You do now!"
d) ???

(27,677 posts)I don't know if he's standing behind any of them. I did find this map of the crime scene which seems to rule out the getting jumped while looking at a sign story.

(115,677 posts)"The only assumption I make above is that Trayvon wanted to get home. If he wanted to bait Zimmerman, he could have hid and attacked from behind as Zimmerman returned to his truck
if his truck was parked on the SIDEWALK in between 2 rows of buildings. This a 140 pound 17 year old wanting to rough up a 200 pound 28 year old also seems rather unlikely to me (and I assume everybody else)."
Right.

(57,936 posts)and Zimmerman says he was returning to his truck, which is, of course, going toward Trayvon.

(19,326 posts)Zimmerman is following Trayvon in his vehicle, but then sees Tray cut into
the interior of the apartment complex's grounds which have NO VEHICLE ACCESS,
and follows Trayvon on foot.
Zimmerman accurately anticipates Trayvon's trajectory of travel on foot to be
somewhere along the interior sidewalk and goes to next entrance to "intercept"
Trayvon.
Very helpful. Hope this is used at the trial, if there ever is one.
