The term was invented to obfuscate their parasitic nature. Their only purpose is to skim a part of the transaction between customer and worker.

(36,827 posts)Nobody creates a job because there's an excess of supply. Jobs are created by an excess of demand. Ergo anyone who consumes anything, which means everyone who is above ground, is a job creator.

(33,224 posts)When I buy a car, I'm hiring people to build it for me. The business managers are only there to efficiently direct the labor.

(36,827 posts)The middlemen get paid regardless of how efficient or not they operate. The idea that upper management of private companies are smarter than everyone else is not all that sound. In my experience on both the union and management side is that labor are usually the smartest guys in the room. One of the reasons the Germans are so efficient is they involve labor at all levels of production.
