Paychecks are not Charity

I think some of you may like this specific post, or the blog in general.

It saddens me that this point must be explained to so many people, but paychecks are not charity. So many in this country want us to idolize “job creators” and make sacrifices at their altar as if they are some sort of divine agent, sharing their bounty out of the goodness of their hearts. The last time I checked, my paycheck was earned, not just given to me by some person who, inexplicably, had more money in his bank account than myself.

This elevation of the employer is also having a terrible side-effect, in the creation of a cultural sense of derision for the average worker.

I don't call them job creators. "Wealth hoarders" is a far more accurate term. Initech Apr 2014 #11

Also notice that your job must earn more than the paycheck you get else the business would dispose of you (they need to make a profit after all).

I've been let go in jobs before when I didn't make the owner enough profit. Regular exploitation wasn't enough.

And the contract that stipulates a pension for the worker is as sacrosanct as the contract that stipulates a debt to a bank.

I'm sick of these fucking "entrepreneurs" and their bullshit philosophy. "Elevation of the employer" indeed. They stack the fucking deck every time.

The Job Creator myth should SERIOUSLY PISS OFF anyone who works for a living.

The term was invented to obfuscate their parasitic nature. Their only purpose is to skim a part of the transaction between customer and worker.

Nobody creates a job because there's an excess of supply. Jobs are created by an excess of demand. Ergo anyone who consumes anything, which means everyone who is above ground, is a job creator.

When I buy a car, I'm hiring people to build it for me. The business managers are only there to efficiently direct the labor.

The middlemen get paid regardless of how efficient or not they operate. The idea that upper management of private companies are smarter than everyone else is not all that sound. In my experience on both the union and management side is that labor are usually the smartest guys in the room. One of the reasons the Germans are so efficient is they involve labor at all levels of production.

Let's not play stupid here, LUNTZ. When board members meet in a room, 90% of the time, are they talking about how many jobs they need to ADD?
