Please sign letter to Spain. Spanish judge proceeding with case against Bush, Cheney, and Rumsfeld

please click on the link and sign the letter to Spanish Judge.

http://act.rootsaction.org/p/dia/action/public/?action_KEY=3317

"A Spanish judge has just decided to proceed with a case against Bush, Cheney, and Rumsfeld. The Spanish legislature can be expected to try to block the case, unless perhaps they hear our voices loudly and clearly enough.

We began this effort in 2011, visiting Spanish embassies, generating media and placing advertisements in Spain, and communicating our appreciation for Spanish efforts to prosecute U.S. torturers. Now we need another big push.

Please sign this letter now, and we will deliver it to Spain:

There is an article in Raw Story about it:

In fact it already has. Darth has canceled a number of trips outside of the US. There was also a CIA agent who was tried and convicted in absentia in Spain for kidnapping who was subsequently arrested in Panama and The State department really scrambled to get him back in the US borders.

I doubt it will result in an extradition, but I really would love to see that case before the Supremes. We have a duty to prosecute by treaty, and I think there's a duty to extradite also.

So yes, it will have consequences. Not as severe as I would like, but I will happily take any progress towards accountability.

Good to see the effort to prosecute them continue, despite the previous interference of this Government with the process in Spain of holding them accountable. As the Wikileaks Cables showed, the US Govt put pressure on the Spanish Court to drop their case against the 'Bush Six' torturers, those who rewrote the rules for torture and were responsible for it.

I'm sure the same thing will happen again, we don't prosecute war criminals here and will attempt to stop others from doing so. But it's still good to see the crimes are not forgotten and one day maybe WILL be prosecuted.
