Why not put facial recognition software on Drones?

I'm throwing that one out there. Because, I know that military strategists don't care about the twenty odd people that get killed in a strike, but those of us who are getting racially profiled by the TSA do care. It's obvious that, as a country, we have to remain in constant vigilance as we await the blow-back from these less than strategic strikes so the racial profiling won't stop. But it can make it less likely that we will increase animosity against our country if we are more careful about precise hits.

So, put the damn facial recognition software on the Drone.

I am certain that it is already there. Probably can be added or removed depending on the drones current assignment. I also suspect that in this country we will see extensive use of them and dont forget they can be made quite small, small as an insect when warranted. Real technology is always way ahead of what is publicized especially if it is likely to be met with resistance.

Maybe you already know this and just want to see the reaction here.

I'm just speaking out of frustration as an American who seems to always have something go awry whenever I walk through airport security.

You think they're hovering right in front of someone before the trigger is pressed?

I imagine there would be an abort button if the face did not match the software programming.

For facial recognition to work, you need two images to compare. I doubt the average Taliban member would have had a picture taken in their life. On top of that, facial recognition systems usually compare a quality head on picture to a quality head on picture. They have a hard time working with low resolution images taken from an angle, like those that would be taken by drones. The headwear and facial hair common amongst Taliban members would further complicate the matter.

if this was honest, one would never shoehorn such a clarification to make murder less offensive.

Oh, well clearly these were males between 16 and 45 so they must be militants.

to be more accurate. I disagree with those who claim that killing the extra twenty plus people around the intended target serves as a deterrence. If it were a deterrence, why is there so much heighten security at U.S. airport check points? The two things are not correlating.

They are remotely piloted vehicles. They have no decision making capability. Anything other than propulsion, communication, and payload on board is redundant.
