Pizza Hut rewards waitress for donating tips

Most locals know the award-winning Pizza Hut waitress Donna Kay Kerecz for the kind way she treats her customers and her charitable work in the community. Kerecz made news two months ago for donating the entirety of her tips for two days to Sierra’s Haven Animal Clinic, when the organization announced that they were in a financial emergency due to a hard winter.
When Pizza Hut caught wind of her charitable donation, they wanted to help out as well. At a public donation held Thursday, several managers of Pizza Hut and Kerecz met with Sierra’s Haven officials to present them with a check that was supposed to be equivalent to what Kerecz originally donated, which was valued at $504.25.
Pizza Hut surprised Kerecz and the clinic with a check for $705.95, they claimed that they added some for “tax purposes.” After a media photo shoot, the managers asked Donna for one more, this time surprising her with another check for $1411.90 signed over to Kerecz with a note that read, “Doubling the tips you donated, you deserve it.” ...
...When it was brought to Kerecz’s attention that the $1,411.90 check was for her alone, she completely lost her composure and began thanking her managers through tears. She quickly declined the offer and promised to give half of her personal check back in a donation to Sierra’s Haven Animal Clinic.
