I haven't written about Cliven Bundy because I don't really give a crap about him. I am not surprised to learn about his belief that blacks were better off as slaves, but it actually doesn't lower my opinion of him. My opinion of him was already as low as it can get.
He's really just a mirror for the conservative movement. He's no different from the hundreds of thousands of white Kentuckians who complain about blacks on welfare while they are on food stamps and have subsidies that allow them to have access to quality health care for the first time.
Probably no president in history has done more to improve the quality of life for white Kentuckians than Barack Obama, but he doesn't get due credit for it because he's black and represents the "Black Party."
Cliven Bundy won't pay his grazing fees, but he complains about "negroes" who get government assistance. It's no wonder he became a hero to the conservative movement. He embodies their beliefs.

If you're unemployed, own a gun, live nearby, and not burdened with gainful employment - stop by and point your gun at the forest rangers.
It's not like you've got something better to do.

(276 posts)It seems like we are making some progress but its not going away any time soon. Between the psychopath billionaires and the losers who don't want to face reality we have a long way to go.

(2,547 posts)The entire ex-confederate states are the equivalent of a welfare ghetto. They have never pulled their weight in this nation. Why do you think so many military installations are in the South? With no military; they would all be sitting on their collective porches, as Bundy described, abort' n their babies and send'n the rest to prison. If the "South" left the United States as it continually threatens to do it would immediately become one of the poorest nations on earth and would have to declare war on the rest of us so that afterwards it could be rebuilt in a modernized version of the Marshall Plan. If they did leave they would have to create a new name, I suggest the Dumbass Nation.

(8,200 posts)He brazenly displays the heart and soul of the Republican Party for all to see. His seething racism is the common core of working class Republicans. It is the key to comprehending how working class people who are struggling to exist consistently vote for those who have enslaved them in poverty. It blinds them to the reality that they are their own worst enemy. It totally diverts their attention to fact that they are little more than victims of the extremists right wing fanatics. They swallow the swill of the super rich that they are the victims of intrusive government policies that benefit the lazy 47% at their expense.
Reagan put the Middle Class on the road to their own destruction when they embraced his philosophy that "The government is not the solution but the problem." According to Reagan, the plight of the working class was due to hoards of lazy good-for-nothing minority welfare queens living off the hard working Middle Class along with corrupt unions. Reagan was little more than a second rate actor that got the biggest role in his career when he played President of the United States. His sole message was every thing would be just dandy if the government was to magically disappear. Despite all of his shrill condemnation of the excesses of government, I never heard him agree to forfeit his generous salary that was in large measure provided by the working class. Throw in a generous helping of victims of evangelical End-Timer charlatans picking their pockets and you are looking at the heart of the Republican working class.
