So the financial industry in CT doesn't want any competition from the state on IRAs...

So the state would help low income workers participate in a state sponsored retirement plan that costs the employer nothing. I get that they don't like the "opt-out" rather than "opt-in" part of the bill and Gov. Malloy will be working on that provision, but it seems solve-able to me...employers simply make it clear to new employees that they need to "opt out" if they don't want the deduction taken out of their pay.

Here is a way that helps low income workers have some money besides SS when they get older and can no longer work. At present, not enough of these workers are taking advantage of the employers' plans. Not that the financial industry will lift a finger to figure out how to help low income workers save...but they'll harass CT's Democrats in the state lege to prevent the state from at least TRYING to help.

Oy. This is so small minded it is crazy. If workers have a retirement income in addition to SS, they will spend more, rely on food stamps less, and put money back into the economy of the state.
